4. THEME OF THE BOOK
The Man eater of the Malgudi deals with the
universal theme of conflict between the good
and evil which is represented by Nataraj and
Vasu respectively. In beginning the evil seems
indomitable, but it always carries with itself a
seed of self destruction, and the same way
goodness seemingly weak is ultimately
victorious
5. SYNOPSIS
The plot revolves around the life of an Indian printer named
Nataraj, who lives in a huge ancestral house in Malgudi, a
fictional town in south India. He leads a contented lifestyle, with
a circle of friends, including a poet, a journalist named Sen, and
his sole employee, Sastri.
The smooth and congenial life of this small group is disturbed by
the arrival H. Vasu, a taxidermist who comes to stay with them as
a tenant in a room in the upper storey of the printing press
the pitiless taxidermist threatens to kill Kumar, a temple
elephant who is to be taken in a festival procession organized to
celebrate the poet’s completion of his religious epic on God
Krishna

One day nataraj learns that Vasu, the taxidermist is dead. The police
authorities of the town soon start investigations. Murder is suspected;
Nataraj, his friends, and Rangi, the temple dancer, are interrogated by
the police. Nataraj was suspected as the culprit.
From the medical report it is gathered that Vasu had died of a
concussion received on his right forehead from a blunt instrument.
When the police fail to find any clue of the culprit, the matter is
dropped. Rangi later tells them that while striking a mosquito that
settled on his forehead, Vasu slapped his temple and died
instantaneously. He thus died of his own hammer-fist.
7. CONCLUSION
THE MORAL OF THIS STORY IS THAT
THOSE WHO ARE PRIDEFUL WILL
EVENTUALLY BRING ABOUT THEIR OWN
SELF DESTRUCTION AND THOSE WHO
FOLLOW THE CORRECT PATH, WILL
ALWAYS FIND THEMSELVES CONTENTED
AND SATISFIED.

WRITING HAS KEPT ME CONNECTED WITH ALL THE
CHARACTERS AND ALONG WITH A GREAT READING

MESSAGE CONVEYED BY THE AUTHOR AND WE SHOULD
