1. NEW FRIENDS A project for DFC 2011 by Anando’s children

3. FEEL HanshiKhushi is an organisation which works with specially abled children. Their centre is in the same locality as our organisation, Anando. We had heard that like us ,the HanshiKhushi students love doing art and craft. But they are not able to do so often enough because there are not enough volunteers to help.
4. WE CAN HELP! SUROJIT That was our first thought when we heard about HanshiKhushi’s dilemma. All of us are artistic and good with our hands. We love messing around with paints and stuff! RATUL PINKY So why not put our talents to good use? DIPTI PIYALI IMAGINE
5. We went to meet Urna Bose , the principal of HanshiKhushi. From her we learnt more about the school and the students who attend it. Mrs. Bose was delighted with our offer and suggested that we could help her students create craft items that could be sold at their annual sale before the DurgaPuja vacation DO
6. We soon got to work. We decided to come in twice a week for an hour before we ourselves went to school. At first we were a bit apprehensive. The children were so different from us….how would we handle them??
7. But then we realised that the HanshiKhushi children did not need “handling” at all! Sure, they needed some help from us but they were enjoying the activities as much as we were ! And…..
8. …it was so much more fun than we had imagined! The HK students were teenagers like us….. …and we could laugh and joke with them like we do with our other friends. We enjoyed being teachers too!
