Chromeleon 7 is our next generation CDS, and is simply intelligent. Now what does this mean? It means that Chromeleon 7 offers Intelligent Functionality: It has all features to do what you need.It also offers Operational Simplicity: It allows you to do everything fast and is really easy to use.To sum up, it simplifies all chromatography processes.
Chromeleon consist of two major parts. There is the Chromeleon Console. This is the main area for navigating through your data. The second part is the Chromatography Studio. This is were all data are evaluated or methods are changed, within the context of the sequence. We will now take a look at both parts.
The user interface is immediately familiar to most users as it is similar to Microsoft Outlook 2007 format.<Click to move between Chromeleon Console and Outlook screenshots to show similarity – Outlook appears and disappears three times>
In every category you can browse through the data, through the instruments or through the eWorkflows, using the navigation pane. As you can see, you can easily switch between the categories using the category bars.
Let’s take a closer look at the categories. The first one is the Instruments category.
The instruments category gives access to all your instruments on the network. Simply select the instrument you’re looking for in the navigation pane and the corresponding ePanels will load, so you can take control. We’ll get back to instrument control in a later presentation.
The next category is data.
Here you can directly access all your data and corresponding results. We’ll get back to this a little bit later.
The last one is the eWorkflows.
The eWorkflows category gives you access to all your eWorkflows, to easily start your runs. Select your analysis in the navigation pane and an instrument and start running. Again this is something we will take a closer look at in a later presentation.
To summarize, the categories let you easily find the functionality you need. As it’s a familiar environment there is no training required.
Let’s go back to the Data category of the Chromeleon CDS console. In the navigation pane you can browse through your data structure and work with your sequences.
One of the items in the folder structure is the deleted items folder. This is similar to the recycle bin in the windows explorer. Deleted sequences are temporarily stored here, so they can be recovered in case this is required. This secures your data as it ensures easy recovery of deleted data.
When selecting a sequence in the navigation pane, the injection list can be directly modified. <Click> For example injection names or dilution factors can be changed, or injections can be added. <Click> It is even possible to interactively assign injection positions by clicking on the vials in the injection rack.
Within the data category the MiniPlots are a good example of operational simplicity. Without opening a sample, you can immediately see the chromatogram and check if it runs properly. You can also see if specific peaks are present or absent and check the quality of the separation.
And it even goes a step further. Also the results can be shown, including SST results, again without opening sequence data.
If you want to work with your data, the chromatography studio is the place to be. Here you can access, evaluate and edit all objects related to a sequence, for example:Read Bullet PointsEvery sequence opens its own studio, which is a separate window, accessible via the taskbar. The studio uses the Microsoft Office Ribbon Technology, which we will look at in a little bit more detail later on.
This is the Chromatography Studio. Similar to the Chromeleon CDS console, which you can see in the background, the Studio has Category Bars and the Navigation Pane to easily navigate through all the data in the sequence. In addition the Studio has the Ribbon. This is a new menu tool that gives you the options you need to have only when you need to have them.
Another area of immediate familiarity will be the built-in spreadsheet-based reporting. The spreadsheet offers Excel-type functionality with over 128 functions available.
Since each Studio session is opened in it‘s own window, it is easy to work on multiple objects at the same time without losing track of where you are. You can be monitoring a running sequence on the ePanel, <click> whilst processing recent data and <click> also editing a report for another project.
As you have seen, Chromeleon 7 CDS is simply intelligent.Read Bullet Points
