This document discusses starting and keeping up with passion projects even while having other responsibilities. It recommends setting aside dedicated time each week, such as 2 hours, to focus solely on the passion project. It also suggests finding an accountability partner who can help keep you on track and motivated. The overall message is that we all have the capacity to pursue work that makes us happy, even with other obligations, if we intentionally carve out time and get support from others.

Starting And Keeping Up
With a Passion Project
posted May 15, 2018, 11:47 PM by Chris Halajian [ updated May 15, 2018, 11:55 PM ]
When I was younger, I was always running to the next assignment or,
during election time, following a candidate's every move. Now that I'm
retired, I realized that making time for a passion project would have helped
me become more creative with my day job. But it's not too late, even for me.
We can all still start and keep up with these projects. Below are some tips
that might be helpful for all of us:

Set aside time to focus on your project Those with day jobs usually think
that they don't have the time to pursue their own thing. But if you think
about it, sometimes we find vacant hours in our days that we could use
instead for these activities. Instead of spending three hours online just
watching random stuff, why not invest it in the things that make you truly
happy? I'm not saying it's wrong to unwind. Sometimes we have to be
intentional with our activities. So if you want progress on your passion
project, set aside an hour or two each week to work on it. Block off your
schedule and set an alarm to prepare yourself.
Find an accountability partner The reason we don't follow through with
our passion projects is because no one's keeping track of our progress.
When we feel discouraged, we also have no one to turn to. If you want to
really do your own thing outside of your day job, getting others involved is
the key. Find a friend, a relative, or a significant other who will help you
3. accomplish your personal goals. When you need a little push, they'll be
there to remind you to keep going.

Don't belittle your capacity to make things happen. Even with all the things
happening in your life, there's always a reason to pursue the work that truly
makes us happy.
