indications will be revisited, such as vaso-vagal syncope, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy or Brugada syndrome. Lots of
debates will be organized as shows and you’ll be able to give your opinion through voting systems in many of the programs settled by
the most famous experts.
What is unique in Cardiostim is the atmosphere that brings more and more people to this friendly meeting where
attendees can freely express their opinion.
That is probably why, despite the international financial crisis, more than a thousand abstracts have been received from all over the
world, and especially from countries that were not present until now in our congress, demonstrating the interest of colleagues keen to
come to Nice to present their data and debate! Congratulations to all authors for their scientific contribution.
The EHRA Program Committee members, conducted by Andreas Goette (Leipzig – Germany), participated actively in the abstract
selection in addition to the Cardiostim members. Consequently, each abstract has been reviewed by at least 6 experts. The Selection
Committee rejected 43 % abstracts overall. This year, a smaller number of oral abstract sessions is proposed to enhance the quality
of the presented material. I must congratulate and thank everyone for these difficult tasks!
As can be seen along this Advance Program, the global result of the combination of EHRA sessions with the traditional programs
proposed by our American friends and the Cardiostim Team is a high standard program that one will remind as the most complete
and attractive ever!
Our task is to translate this knowledge into understandable and useful information for clinical practice. This is why
Cardiostim also proposes educational sessions based on case presentations in the general program as well as dedicated sessions.
With the same logics, specific sessions will be dedicated to technicians and nurses.
Next June, you will enjoy Cardiostim!

Congress Highlights in 2012
THE EHRA PROGRAM
An extensive program was designed by the Scientific Program Committee of EHRA, and will include a total
number of 30 sessions.
HIGH-TECH ADVANCES
Among many others, four sessions will focus on new technologies that will impact our practice in the future with
the following topics: understanding of arrhythmia mechanisms and signal processing, computer simulation in
electrophysiology and CRT.
HIGH STANDARD EDUCATION
Educational material is proposed in all programs, based on Case presentations. In the EP and ablation section, a
specific program is proposed by George Klein on Saturday June 16.
In addition a Program is given in French on devices, and two sessions are dedicated to technicians and nurses.

Novel Approaches to Apply Mechanistic Insights to Complex Human Arrhythmias
Organized by
E. Pruvot - Lausanne, CHE S. Narayan - San Diego, USA
Goals: To discuss the implementation and practical application of principles and insights from basic science to understand and treat
human arrhythmias. Because the detailed mapping and tissue analyses for in silico, in vitro and in vivo animal models often cannot
be applied in patients, this session will also discuss technical innovations that have enabled successful translational patient studies.
