10.  PIND is working to integrate the
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into
the long-term planning of States in the
Niger Delta. The Global Goals are
integrated in a balanced manner of three
dimensions of sustainable development –
economic, social, and environmental.

11.  The CAPABLE program has developed
suite of training, coaching and
mentoring model that improves the
capacity index of CSOs, leading them
to receive funding for SDGs in the
Niger Delta SDGs indicators:17.9.1

12.  The most recent Niger Delta Development
Forum, the largest advocacy platform in the
region to discuss topical socioeconomic issues,
advanced this linking was in the 2018 edition
themed “Delivering Results: Implementing a
State-Led Plan” engaged all the States in the
Niger Delta region and working with seven –
Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Imo, Ondo
— to harmonize and present their vision for a
long-term development planning strategy.

13.  PIND organized a one-day high level
stakeholder’s roundtable on advancing the SDGs
in the Niger Delta. The roundtable aimed to
engage key stakeholders in strategic government
positions, academia, and civil society into
discussions and activities that will utilize the
SDGs to advance socioeconomic and
environmental development of the Niger Delta.

should support strategic platforms

innovative initiatives with impact to
support the SDGs.

21.  Federal and State governments should adopt inclusive processes
towards developing contributions to the upcoming Voluntary
National Review (VNR) 2020, and ensure that not only are citizens
engaged but the final document is validated by the public before
submission
 The OSSAP-SDGs Office should co-create a work-plan and strategic
engagement plan with civil society, private sector, other
stakeholders, and broader public to ensure that citizens feel carried
along with their reforms
 Leverage private sector networks to reach local communities. Share
promotional materials with private sector actors to increase
awareness of the SDGs. Leverage private sector expertise in
profitability for best practices in budget design and implementation.

22.  At the Roundtable, PIND awarded grants to
two CSOs to coordinate dialogues sessions on
SDGs between the state, local government
and community. (in Delta and Ondo States)
 Issued questionnaire on SDGs to the 9 Niger
Delta States focal persons and received
responses from 5 states.
