Harriet Watkinson, LMP Education
As the first cohort of Library, Information and Archive Services apprentices progress through the course, Harriet will explain what the apprentices have been learning, what they are putting into practice in their workplaces, and where they hope to go next in their professions. By introducing the apprenticeship structure and content and highlighting areas of excellence in the apprentices' learning and job roles, you will learn how CILIP has supported diversity of learning in our professions and the unique skills an apprentice could bring to your organisation.

6. Experience so far

I wanted to have real life experience of working in
a library and blend this with essays and teaching.
I made the right choice because I love it!”
Isabelle Cummins, Brunswick Group, London
“Regular contact with my tutor has been incredibly helpful. It is a great way to refresh my aspirations.
As an anchor in my diary, they act as a goal for completing
assignments and keeping on track with the apprenticeship.”

Katharine Maclennan, Library and Information Assistant, NHS Hospital

for all NHS Library Assistants online.
This is an experience I certainly would not have gained had I not been doing the apprenticeship.”
Yen Le, Secondary School Librarian, London
“I've been able to create links to other library professionals who have shared
their career journeys and their jobs is both incredibly interesting and encouraging because

This is a really brief summary of what I’ll cover in the presentation. My email address and twitter handle are on all the slides so do get in touch if you’d like more information.
For 37 hours (full time) you’d do 7.4 hours per week of study.

Because we have an existing relationship with managers and employers we’re uniquely placed to support open conversation about career progression throughout and at the end of the course, whether that’s further training or study, professional development e.g. CILIP certification and chartership, or movement within the team to more specialised roles.
That was a really brief introduction so do feel free to ask questions and get in touch if you’d like more information.
