3. Leader’s Prayer
† Lord grant that we may understand the necessity for depth in our
Movement, rather than surface glory. Convince us of the truth
that colorful programs do not constitute success.
† My God, give us a spirit of self sacrifice so that we may offer
everything for Your cause: our time, our abilities, our health and
even our lives if necessary. Instill in us courage in our initiatives,
good judgment in our choice of the right means, and that
determination, which in spit of failures, assures victory.
† Move away from us the tiny rivalries, sensitivities, discourtesies,
pride, everything which distracts from You, everything which
divides or discourages.

4. Leader’s Prayer con’t
† Help us to maintain at a high level, a meaningful supernatural and
mutual charity among ourselves, so that each one will seek by
preference, the most humble task and will rejoice at the good
performed by others, so that all our spirits, united in a common
purpose, will have one single spirit, Yours Jesus, and that this
spirit may let us see Your attractive goodness marked in all our
faces, Your warm accents in all our words, and in our lives
something superior to the world, something that proclaims Your
Living Presence among us. Amen

7. The Ultreya
† When Cursillo was founded, when candidates graduated they
were welcomed by the community, the Ultreya
† Ultreya is an important part of the Cursillo as it should expand the
Cursillista’s view of his/her faith journey by:
– Sharing the experiences and faith of other Cursillistas in the Witness talk
and Floating Group reunion
– Reviving the joy of the weekend
† It is an important vehicle to let the new Cursillista know he/she is
welcome in the community – that they have more brothers and
sisters than just in their group
† The Ultreya should ensure that new Cursillistas have a group:
– It is the primary responsibility of the sponsor
– But the Ultreya should check to insure all new Cursillistas are
grouping

8. Purpose of the Ultreya
† The Ultreya oversees the good of the community
† It is a way for Cursillistas to meet other Cursillistas
† The floating group reunion is a intended for new Cursillistas
and veterans to share what is fundamental to being a
Christian
† The Ultreya unifies the movement; it nourishes the
members of the movement
† It has two periods: the floating group reunion and the
collective reunion with a witness speaker
† It facilitates new Cursillista’s incorporation into the
community

12. Floating Group Reunion
† Leaders need to listen intently to what is shared
† Sharing is secondary for the Leaders
† The Leader should attempt to ascertain the spiritual state of
each Cursillista
† Leaders keep the sharing focused
† The Group Reunion allows all to grow through sharing

† Speaker should share their experiences in what is fundamental to
being a Christian
† New Cursillistas are encouraged to be witness speakers
† 10-15 Minutes Max
† Witness talk is not instruction; it is a sharing of life experiences
† The speaker should be instructed beforehand so he/she will
express his/her ideas concretely in the allotted time
† The talk should be short, simple and enthusiastic

17. The Ultreya and the Cursillo Movement
† Ultreyas are the link between the community and the
Secretariat
† Ultreya attendance is important information for it
represents the best way for the Secretariat to know who is
active in the movement (Post Cursillo)
– We want to make all attendance reporting electronic
† The School of Leaders is to the Ultreya as the team is to the
candidates on the weekend
– The SoL provides leaders to the Ultreyas who energize and motivate
it
– Leaders share the SoL activities with the members of the Ultreya

18. Summary
† It is more important to pay attention to the attendees at the
Ultreya, than the Ultreya itself
† We should not focus on the Ultreya coming out well, but the
persons attending coming out better
† Personal contact is the key
† We should strive to share the truth through witness and
grouping
† It is where we share Christianity; practice the Tripod and
then take the message to the world

19. Closing Prayer
† Dear Lord, we must have fraternal charity, or we can accomplish
nothing for you.
† In loving you, help us to have a genuine concern for one another, a
generosity in sharing one another’s burdens, a gallantry in
defending the reputation of our group, a sincere sympathy in
sharing one another’s suffering and sorrows, and a joy in sharing
their spiritual growth.
† By this shall all men know that we are your Apostles. Amen.

24. April SoL Bible Reading
† “If your brother sins [against you], go and tell him his fault
between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have
won over your brother. If he does not listen, take one or two
others along with you, so that ‘every fact may be established
on the testimony of two or three witnesses.’ If he refuses to
listen to them, tell the church. If he refuses to listen even to
the church, then treat him as you would a Gentile or a tax
collector.
