2. What is Asamodagam plant?
• Asamodagam is an ayurvedic plant
• It is used for cough , asthma like diseases
• It is more common in India where it is
called Ajwain.
• Both the leaves and seeds like fruit of the
plant are consumed by humans.
3. • Seeds of this plant are oval shaped and pale
brown.
• Seeds have a bitter and pungent taste.
• Used as a spice.
• Seed also cures abdominal tumors,
abdominal pains and piles.
• It contains 2-4.4% brown colored oil
• Main component is thymol.
• Thymol is a germicide.
• Used in toothpaste and perfumery.

10. Powdery mildew (Podosphaera xanthii)
Appears late in the season
Symptoms – whitish fungal growth on leaves
Becomes serious at temperature between 150-200C
and at a relative humidity of above 60%
Control
• Dusting with Sulphur (25kg/ha)
• Spraying wettable Sulphur or Karathane (0.1%) twice
at flowering stage at 15 days interval
• Selection of resistant varieties
