2. Welcome to the workshop!
[This workshop] will focus on the experiences
and challenges on concrete projects in
Australia on data in the research lifecycle,
data management plans, data discovery and
metadata, citing data and data impact.
Links to basic and general knowledge of
these topics will be provided beforehand for
self-learning.

3. Workshop learning outcomes
At the end of this workshop, you will be able to:
● Understand relationships between data and research lifecycles and the
connections between them
● Articulate the theory and practice of Data Management Plans, including
references to new and emerging DMP tools and approaches
● Understand how data is discovered and what information helps
potential users evaluate which data may be useful
● Understand the role of metadata, controlled vocabularies and persistent
identifiers in data discovery
● Cite data in line with standards and principles
● Refer to practical examples, particularly those from Australia, in relation
to the above

Interesting survey on what Chinese tourists like/dislike about Australia
The Chinese have rapidly become the world's biggest travellers. Australia has received a glowing
report card from Chinese visitors, with new research showing that 90 per cent are satisfied with
their holiday.. But..value for money only rated 57 per cent...Chinese food was rated as average by
57 per cent.
