2. What is development ?
ï Development is the process of becoming Bigger, Stronger &
Better.
(In other words)
ï It is the series of changes in which organism undergo in their
passage from the embryonic state to Maturity, from a lower to
a higher state of organisation.
4. Childhood
â Childhood is the age span ranging from birth to adolescence.
â It lasts up to the age of 18/20
5. What is child development ?
â Child development refers to the process through which human
beings typically grow and mature from infancy through
adulthood. The different aspects of growth and development
that are measured include physical growth, cognitive growth,
and social growth. Child development focuses on the changes
that take place in humans as they mature from birth to about
age 17.
7. Infancy (sensorimotor Stage)
â The period of infancy begins at birth and ends at two years of
age. It's the most rapid period of growth throughout the
lifespan. During this period of child development, human
beings go from being helpless, reflexive babies to toddlers
who can communicate and reason.
8. Early childhood
(Preoperational Stage)
â The period of early childhood development lasts from two
years of age through six years of age. Physically, our center of
gravity shifts from the breastbone, where it was when we
were infants, to the belly button. Our physical growth occurs
much more slowly during this period as compared to the rapid
growth that took place during infancy.
9. Middle childhood
(Concrete Operational Stage)
â Middle childhood typically takes place from ages 6 through 12.
Physical growth continues and spurts of rapid growth in height
and weight may occur. Fine and gross motor skills continue to
develop, and we become stronger and faster than ever before.
This time is known as the school years, as children are usually
focused on traditional education at this point in development
10. Adolescence
(Formal operational stage)
It is the fourth and final stage of child development. It begins at
approximately age 12 and lasts into adulthood. At this point in
development, thinking becomes much more sophisticated and
advanced.
11. Adulthood
It is the period in which full physical and intellectual maturity
have been attained. Adulthood is commonly thought of as
beginning at age 20 or 21 years. Middle age, commencing at
about 40 years, is followed by old age at about 60 years.
12. Stages of adult development
ï Early adulthood
ï Middle adulthood
13. Early adulthood
â The twenties and thirties are often thought of as early
adulthood. It is a time when we are at our physiological peak
but are most at risk for involvement in violent crimes and
substance abuse. It is a time of focusing on the future and
putting a lot of energy into making choices that will help one
earn the status of a full adult in the eyes of others. Love and
work are primary concerns at this stage of life.
14. Middle adulthood
â The late thirties through the mid-sixties is referred to as
middle adulthood. This is a period in which aging, that began
earlier, becomes more noticeable and a period at which many
people are at their peak of productivity in love and work. It
may be a period of gaining expertise in certain fields and being
able to understand problems and find solutions with greater
efficiency than before. It can also be a time of becoming more
realistic about possibilities in life.
15. Old age
â Old age, also called senescence, is the final stage of the
normal life span in humans. it generally considered to begin at
about age 65 to late age.
â A variety of physiological changes may occur, including some
degree of atrophy of the brain and a decrease in the rate of
neural processes. The respiratory and circulatory systems are less
efficient, and changes in the gastrointestinal tract may lead to
increased constipation.
16. Death
â It is the permanent end of the life of a biological organism.
17. DEATH IS NOT THE OPPOSITE OF LIFE, BUT
A PART OF IT.
