Methods of Evaluating Training Effectiveness
• Observed Method: Observation the
performance of the individual or group by
immediate supervisor.
• Test-retest Method: Two tests are taken (pre-
post) training program. Both tests are
compared and effectiveness is evaluated on
the basis of the gap between two tests
• Pre-post Performance Method: Evaluation is
done by observing the Individual
Performance or after training job related
behavior.
• Experimental-control group Method:
– Participants are divided into two groups
“Experimental and Control Group”
– Groups are established on the basis of “Skills +
Intelligence + Learning”
– Control group works - without instruction
– Experimental Group – works with instruction
– Achievement of training of both the groups are
evaluated and compared
– Both groups’ performance is revalued “Pre &
Post Training”
– If the performance of the experimental Group is
improved substantially the Training Program may
be rated effective
• Trainee Survey: A formal training survey is
conducted with the trainee. They are asked
questions regarding their learning and whether
the skills and knowledge learnt are translated
into performance.
• Cost-effectiveness Analysis: Cost incurred in
designing and operating the training is
calculated against the results and an
assessment is made about return on investment.

Training Evaluation

  • 1. Methods of Evaluating Training Effectiveness • Observed Method: Observation the performance of the individual or group by immediate supervisor. • Test-retest Method: Two tests are taken (pre- post) training program. Both tests are compared and effectiveness is evaluated on the basis of the gap between two tests
  • 2. • Pre-post Performance Method: Evaluation is done by observing the Individual Performance or after training job related behavior.
  • 3. • Experimental-control group Method: – Participants are divided into two groups “Experimental and Control Group” – Groups are established on the basis of “Skills + Intelligence + Learning” – Control group works - without instruction – Experimental Group – works with instruction
  • 4. – Achievement of training of both the groups are evaluated and compared – Both groups’ performance is revalued “Pre & Post Training” – If the performance of the experimental Group is improved substantially the Training Program may be rated effective
  • 5. • Trainee Survey: A formal training survey is conducted with the trainee. They are asked questions regarding their learning and whether the skills and knowledge learnt are translated into performance. • Cost-effectiveness Analysis: Cost incurred in designing and operating the training is calculated against the results and an assessment is made about return on investment.
