2. SIGNAL
-Signals are the electric or electromagnetic impulses used to encode and transmit data.
Data is then transmitted through some medium, such as a cable or the airwaves. The receiving node then
reverses the conversion and turns the electronic pulses or waveforms back into the 0's and 1's that represent
the original data
Signal are basically two types –
SIGNAL
ANALOG SIGNAL DIGITAL SIGNAL
3. ANALOG SIGNAL
- When data is sent over physical medium it means to first convert into electric magnetic signal
Ex-
– Voice
– Data Images
– Video information
• using a continuous signal
4. DIGITAL SIGNAL
- A digital signal is a signal that represents data as a sequence of discrete values. A digital
signal can only take on one value from a finite set of possible values at a given time
- Ex
- Computer
- Digital Phones
5. DIGITAL MODULATION
- Digital modulation is the process of encoding a digital information signal into
the amplitude, phase, or frequency of the transmitted signal.
- Digital Modulation are 3 types-
Digital Modulation
ASK
(Amplitude shift keying)
FSK
(Frequency shift keying)
PSK
(Phase shift keying)
