Getting hired
What Interns are saying
• “I’ve learned something from each person I encountered.”
• “The best aspects were learning my field with the help of others
but also having the time to learn on my own.”
• “Experience working with the government. Obtaining a Clearance.
Gaining real life work experience.”
• “Opportunities to meet the executive board and all of the other fun
networking events set up by CSRA.”
• “I learned how to make cash collection calls and update status
into excel spreadsheet. I also got to spend time with a mentor,
and watch presentations regarding advancing my career.”
• “Flexibility with hours of work per hour and working from home.
Getting the opportunity to meet so many different people and
networking. Getting a taste of different projects from multiple
departments.”
• “Being part of a team to be able to learn and grow your knowledge.”
• “This was my first real internship, so learning about working in an
office setting and realizing I really want to do human resources
is really great.”
• “Writing code, writing documentation, planning tasks.”
The Application Process
• “What type of people do you want to be around when you’re in
the workplace?”
• “Are you familiar with the JRDC Program? What can you tell me
about ITIL? Tell me about yourself?”
• “What are your strengths/weakness? What do you hope to gain
from the internship? Why did you apply? Talk about yourself.”
• “Tell me about yourself? What are your goals coming out of
college? What area are you interested in? Tell me about a time
when you met with a group for a project? What problems did you
encounter and how did you handle them?”
• “How did you hear about CSRA Inc.? Why do you want to work for
CSRA Inc.? Would you be able to multi-task on many different
projects or have to focus on one project at a time?”
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
• “Install and configure network hardware. Design new network
architecture depending on the site’s unique needs.”
• “Maintaining and launching Communities of Interest on
internal file sharing/social media site. Assisting Marketing and
Communications team and Solution Architects.”
• “Supported existing teams with internet as well as intranet site
development for the most part. Day to day responsibilities
changed just depending upon which projects needed support.”
• “Provide help to project managers in terms of drafting job
requisitions, making spreadsheets, assisting in entering
information into JIRA.”
• “Research emerging technology areas and also analyze different
tools and technologies. Report to manager on findings every
Tuesday and Friday.”
• “Worked in the lab building, configuring and testing network
equipment for deployment to company locations. Also helped
with site set up and deployment on cutover and prep days.”
• “I am responsible for handling certain issues with 42six’s Insight
and Papertrail software. These usually include minor feature
enhancements and bug fixes. I also work on a web app with
the other interns at the office. I attend daily scrum meetings to
report progress and put together weekly presentations to show
improvement to my managers.”
• “Monitoring the existing network and computer infrastructure for
possible malicious threats and responding to threats as they
appear on user computers.”
• “Shadow and assist members of the networking team. Tasks
included configuring switches, tagging and untagging ports,
cleaning the lab, assembling routers and switches, etc. I also meet
with my mentor at least once a week and receive tasks from him to
keep myself focused, gain experience, and further my own goals.”
• “Usually I develop software in C++ using the Qt framework for
around 6-7 hours a day. My code goes directly in the product,
so the work I do is very meaningful. A few days a week I attend
meetings or teleconferences concerning design plans and issues.”
