Wipro has several corporate social responsibility initiatives focused on education and the environment. For education, it operates Wipro Cares projects providing primary healthcare and education, Wipro Applying Thought in Schools partnering with organizations to improve education quality, and Mission 10X to enhance engineering graduates' employability. For the environment, it has the Earthian sustainability program for schools and Eco Eye initiative making Wipro carbon neutral and water positive.
2. Azim Premji is the Chairman and MD of Wipro Technologies.
1945- Wipro (Western India Vegetable Products Ltd.) founded by Azim Premji’s
father-Mohamed Premji in 1945 at Amalner , Maharashtra started as vegetable oil
trading company.
1966- Azim Premji took over the leadership of company and transformed Wipro
into consumer goods company.
1981 – Ventured into the fledging IT industry with the continuous expansion of
consumer products.
1983- Established software products and exports subsidiary, Wipro Systems Ltd.
1985- Pioneers in marketing indigenous Personal Computers.
1989- Established a Joint venture with GE, Wipro GE Medical Systems Pvt. Ltd for
the manufacture, sales, and service of diagnostic and imaging products.
1990’s-Entered IT services, pioneer in developing the ODC (Offshore Development
Centre) concept.
2002-Entered the BPO business.
2008-Entered the Eco-energy business.
2013-Wipro Ltd. demerges its ‘Diversified Business’ into a separate company to be
named ‘Wipro Enterprises Ltd’. Wipro Ltd. to focus exclusively on IT Business.

7. Wipro Cares is Wipro’s community initiative focused on certain key
developmental issues faced by underserved and underprivileged
communities, primarily health and education.
It is a trust formed in the year 2003 that seeks to work with communities
proximate to Wipro’s center of operations.
Currently engaged in 16 projects across India.
Through seven of its health care projects in four states of India,Wipro Cares
is providing more than 75000 people in 53 villages access to primary health
care.
Wipro care contributes through two prolonged strategy. –
(1) learning enhancement
(2) disaster rehabilitation.
WIPRO CARE
8. More than 47000 children have benefitted from the five education
projects in five Indian cities.
Project in social forestry has helped plant more than a lakh trees, and has
at the same time provided livelihood to around 80 farmers.
Projects in disaster rehabilitation have helped rebuild the lives of people
affected by Karnataka Floods, Bihar Floods, Japan Tsunami, Hurricane
Sandy, Philippines Cyclone, Uttarakhand Floods, Odisha Floods and many
more.

9. An initiative to help in societal change and development.
Intent of this initiative is to improve the quality of education in
schools.
Key strategy is to partner with civil society and other organizations
across the country in this endeavour, to ensure higher
sustainability of the initiatives commenced.
Currently, engaged in projects with around 700 schools across the
country in partnership with 22 partners.
Over the years:
(1)WATIS has built a partner network of 30 of India’s foremost
educational organizations.
(2) Helped build and grow social organizations

Launched on September 5, 2007.
Aim to enhance the employability skills of engineering graduates in India, by
collaborating with academicians & leading educational institutions across the
country.
The Mission10X Learning Approach empowers engineering faculty with
innovative teaching techniques using which they can help learners in imbibing
higher level of understanding of subjects, application of concepts learned and
development of key behavioral skills.
Since its launch Mission10X has gained tremendous recognition and
momentum in the field of engineering education.
Mission10X has reached out to over 1,200 engineering colleges across 25
States in India and has empowered over 23,000 engineering faculty members.

employers across engineering industries as well as for engineering

15. Sustainability Program for Schools and Colleges.
Designed to act as a catalyst for fostering excellence by building
skills, attitudes and values to shape sustainability thinking and
doing amongst young people.
The vision of Wipro earthian is rooted in the challenging task that
humanity faces - of finding solutions to several sustainability issues
like climate change, water scarcity, loss of biodiversity, etc.
Since its inception in 2011, earthian has more than 3000 schools
and colleges registered in the program.

which we attempt to see everything, and act for ecological
sustainability,”
