5. FOREWORD
CLIENT PROFILE
PARKROYALRainbow Hills Bogor Resort is located
amidst Bogor’s spectacular volcanic mountains
and picturesque rivers with convenient access to
the stunning 18-hole Rainbow Hills golf course
PT Bahana Bukit Pelangi was to build Park Royal
Hotel in Bogor. Therefore ALTA INTEGRA asked to
do Acoustic & AV Consultation of ballroom & 9
meeting rooms and Noise Control Test of 6
bedrooms & machinery room.
BACKGROUND
9. BASIC THEORY
NOISE CONTROL
Transmission Loss
Transmission Loss (TL) is a
figure which rates the ability
of a material to block sound.
It is usually measured in 1/3
octave band intervals.
Mathematically it is defined
as the ratio of the sound
energy transmitted through a
material to the sound energy
incident on the material.
Level Difference
The difference in the space and time averaged
SPL (Sound Pressure Level).
LD = L1-L2
L1 = Averaged SPL in the source room
L2 = Averaged SPL in the receiving room
DnT,w : Weighted Standardized Level Difference.
Standardized to a standard 0.5 seconds
reverberation time and weighted to provide a single
figure value. The results will include flanking
transmission so the test is for the total transmission
between the rooms, not just the partition.
10. BASIC THEORY
NOISE CONTROL
Speech Privacy Class
SPC values can be used to specify the required speech privacy for new construction or to assess the
speech privacy of existing closed rooms . SPC defined as the sum of the measured average noise level
at the position of a potential eavesdropper outside the room, and the measured average level
difference between a source room average and the transmitted levels at the same potential
eavesdropper location.
SPC = LD(avg) + Ln(avg)
LD = Level Difference; L1-L2; dB
Ln = Ambient Noise Level; dB
12. CONSULTATION TARGET
SOUND TRANSMISSION CLASS (STC)
A sound transmission class of 55 decibels in all fixed walls, 48 decibels on all ceiling mounted track
moveable walls and/or partitions is required, with sound baffles above the ceiling between adjoining
rooms (PPHG Design Guidelines)
13. CONSULTATION TARGET
LEVEL DIFFERENCE
D = L1 – L2
L1 = Ballroom, 100 dB
L2 = Corridor, 55 dB
DnTw+C = 100 – 55 = 45
dB
With the assumption
100dB noise in the
Ballroom, Level Difference
needed to meet the
requirements is 45dB.
