3. INTRODUCTION
Dubai is a city in the United Arab Emirates. The
emirate of Dubai is located on the southeast coast of the
Arabian Gulf and is one of the seven emirates that make up
the country. It has the largest population in the UAE
(2,106,177) and the second-largest land territory by area
(4,114 km2) after Abu Dhabi. Dubai is nowadays often
misperceived as a country or city-state and, in some cases,
the UAE as a whole has been described as 'Dubai‘.
Dubai act as a region gateway, re-exporting goods from
around the world to the large markets of neighbors

GROWTH
Dubai's population has shot up 4.8% to 2,174,000
people this month as compared to 2,068,000 people
recorded as living in the emirate in August 2012.
Dubai first crossed the two million people mark in
December 2012 when its population rose by 5% in
comparison to 2010 to reach 2,000,072, an increase of
22,072 in less than three months.

7. AIR QUALITY
Air quality in Dubai is far from ranking the city among the most
polluted. However, some areas have high levels of benzene and
volatile organic compounds, as well as particulate matter.
However, according to experts, the situation is not worse than
some European urban areas.
Head of environment planning in the environment department at
Dubai Municipality, believes Dubai suffers from polluted due to
its geographic location and high level of dust in the air from the
surrounding desert landscape.

In 1994 Dubai started using Ambient Air Quality Monitoring
(AAQM) that is important to determines the quality of air that
surrounds for its beneficial use in the air environment, as well as
to protect the health of the population. In 1994, the AAQM was
started with (6) monitoring stations distributed to its urban and
industrial areas. In 2012 the monitoring network was recently
expanded to (14) monitoring stations with use of technologically
advanced equipment .

United Arab Emirates has assumed a prominent place
globally for outstanding achievements in the fields of
protecting environment, preserving nature, combat
desertification, development of marine and wild life,
establishment of natural reserves and contributing to
global research to Maintain various types of rare and
endangered animals such as Oryx gazelle, Arabian
leopard and sea turtle .

Despite rapid urban development, massive
population growth and the efforts to diversify
the economy, but the environment protection
and conservation of natural resources has always
been on the top of the UAE government
priorities.

As part of its efforts to introduce advanced systems in
waste management, Dubai Municipality is all set to
implement the ‘Duty of Care’ system, which requires
waste management companies to follow a new set of
regulations starting from the collection point right up to
the disposal units or treatment facilities.

Emirates is responsible for accreditation of schools.
The Knowledge and Human Development Authority
was established in 2006 to develop education and
human resource sectors in Dubai, and license
educational institutes

Dubai’s health services are internationally recognized
and are of a high standard, comparable to other
developed countries. Hospitals, which boast modern
facilities, are strategically located to ensure accessibility.
There are approximately 20 clinics and hospitals
distributed across the Emirate.

In Dubai there are many green spaces and one of the most
famous green space in the middle east is Alnakhla island (
Palm Island ) .
The Palm Islands are an artificial archipelago (islands) in
Dubai, off the coast in the Arabian Gulf. They will establish
three islands, Each settlement will be in the shape of a palm
tree, topped with a crescent. The settlements will have a
large number of residential, leisure and entertainment
centers. The Palm Islands will add 520 kilometers of beaches
to the city of Dubai.

the world. The UAE is a low lying coastal country with
an arid climate and which already faces high

Dubai is the best place to sample all types of Gulf and

from petroleum and natural gas currently account for less
than 6% of the emirate's gross domestic product. Dubai
became important ports of call for Western manufacturers.

building hotels and developing real estate. Port (Jebel Ali,
constructed in the 1970s, has the largest man-made harbor
in the world).
Emirates Airline was founded by the government in 1985
and is still state-owned; based at Dubai International
Airport, it carried over 28 million passengers in fiscal year
2006 and 24 million the year before.
