4. INTRODUCTION
GRASS CUTTER CUM REAPER MACHINE-
A grass cutter cum reaper machine that uses one rotating and one and more revolving blades
to cut a grass to an even height. The blades may be powered either by dc motor the mower
forward to operate the mechanical blade, or may have an electric motor or an internal
combustion engine to spin their blades. Some mowers also include other abilities, like
mulching or collecting their clippings.
OBJECTIVE
The main goal of this project is to design a grass cutting machine for making the
Cutting operation smooth and with less effort. The main components used in this
project are motors, blade, switch, battery, connecting wires and cheesy. in this
project this switch pad is used to control the cutting machine movement forward,
backward. And to on/off the motor containing a grass cutting blade on its shaft.
The motors are powered by the battery.

5. DESIGN OF GRASS CUTTER CUM REAPER MACHINE
The design of an grass cutter machine mower contents a blades, pulley, crank, connecting
rod, body frame, high speed motor, wheels, push handle, bag.
There is also a solar panel to be attached to charge the batteries there by making of the grass
cutter run. The power system there are many Options, but we are using solar powered motor,
which is attached to the crank through the belt and crank attached to the cutting (moving)
blade through the using of crank. Sizing the solar panel will depend on what we are
powering, specifically the motors. Like batteries, there is a range of motors to choose from.
We went with 36 volt motor with integrated gear heads
Cutter deck housing — this houses the blade and the drive system of the mower. It is shaped
to effectively eject the grass clippings from the mower.
Blade attached and drives system - The blade of a reciprocating mower is usually attached in
frame. Mower blade - A reciprocating mower generally has two blades (one blade is fixed
and other is movable) that rotates horizontally. The blade features edges that slightly curved
up to generate a continuous air flow as the blade rotates, thus creating a sucking and tearing
action.

The main parts of a grass cutter machine are:-
Blade - Consist of numerous 2 blades that are attached to main frame. The one blade
reciprocates and other blade is fixed. The reciprocating blade creating a cutting motion.
Body frame - The main structural frame of the machine onto which the other parts of the
mower are mounted.
Wheels - These help propel the mower in action. Generally, our lawn machine has four
wheels.
Motor - The power source of a machine that is powered by Battery (solar) motor.
Rotating disc- rotating disc is connected to the motor through the belt.
Connecting rod / Ram - it convert the rotary motion of motor to the reciprocating motion of
cutting blade.
Working of grass cutter machine
This machine is the new innovative and effectively concept mainly used in agricultural field.
Simple in constriction and working process is very easy. And it is mostly used in agricultural
field for the cutting of grass, crops, etc.
In our project here the motor is working with the electric power supply, on the motor shaft we
have fixing the arrangement of rotating disc. The rotating disc arrangement like a cam.
The cutter is fixed on the frame of the ram arrangement. When we switch ON the machine
the motor start to rotate. the cam arrangement shown in fig. Here the rotary motions convert
in to the reciprocating motion by using simple mechanisms.
The linear motion ram is connected to the cutter as shown in fig, so that the cutter moves
horizontally (reciprocate) the cutting process is carrying out through this machine.

Applications

• Reaper are widely used in all sports grounds. Reaper become a more efficient alternative to
the domesticated grazing animals.
• It is widely used to cut small grasses & it can also be used for cutting small plants and also
used for trimming grass of play grounds and sports ground.
• Eco-Friendly and good for former.
9. Advantage & Disadvantage
Advantages
• It is easy to use.
• With Battery powered reaper machine, there is no more messy oil & smelly gasoline.
• Now we are safety with no pollutants emitted. There are also no air filters & spark plugs to
bother it.
• The cost of electricity to recharge the battery is minimal compared to the high cost of
gasoline, oil, air filters, & sparkplugs.
Disadvantages
• It is costly. An reaper machine is more expensive.
• The eventual disposal of worn-out batteries is problematic.
• As a result of incorrect use, fluid can leak from the rechargeable battery. Avoid contact with
the fluid.
Conclusion
A reaper machine which is simply called a grass cutter machine become very popular today
and it very commonly used for furnishing soft grasses. Now it is necessary for cleaning
gardens. Since it is easily operating machine so now it is used for various applications.
