2. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is typically defined as
the capability of a machine to imitate intelligent
human behaviour.
John McCarthy invented the term Artificial
Intelligence in the year 1950.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is gaining a lot of traction
lately. This is mainly because it has broken the
bottleneck of human efficiency, reduced repetitive
work, and enhanced work efficiency. As a result,
almost every industry in the world is planning to
leverage AI or has already implemented it in their
business.
INTRODUCTION
3. The concern of AI taking over everyone’s jobs is becoming
increasingly urgent as recent AI breakthroughs attract public
attention. As much as they are playing an important role in
making tasks and processes better, their effect on human-centered
jobs and capabilities in the workplace has become a major debate.
Technological innovations can affect employment in two main
ways:
by directly displacing workers from tasks they were
previously performing (displacement effect)
by increasing the demand for labour in industries or jobs
that arise or develop due to technological progress (productivity
effect).
As AI progresses, some believe that it will steadily and inevitably
take over large sectors of the workforce and will bring mass-scale
unemployment and social unrest. The jobs that most of the people
are currently doing, may get obsolete or automated sooner than
you think.
INTRODUCTION
4. Unemployment
due to A.I.
Artificial Intelligence has dramatically
improved our world in ways unimaginable, but
there are many concerns regarding the impact
it can have on employment and the credibility
of workforce. There are predictions which tell
us about the possibility of millions of people
facing unemployment in the next decade due
to automation and neural networks.
AI and automation could affect or eliminate
one-quarter of jobs. As AI evolves and more
tasks fall into the category of things that can
be easily automated, entire job industries
could disappear. Jobs in manufacturing,
agriculture, food service, retail, transportation
and logistics, and hospitality tend to top the list
of industries likely to be affected by
automation. If a recession is coming, it might
accelerate this shift toward automation as
cash-strapped businesses look for ways to
reduce overhead.
6. 36 Million Unemployed
More than one-quarter (27%) of all employees state they
are stressed that the work they have now will be disposed
of within the next five years because of new innovation,
robots or artificial intelligence,
42% of workers in the logistics industry have better than
expected worries about new technology replacing their
jobs. The dread stems from the fact that the business is
already witnessing it. Self-driving trucks already are
compromising the jobs of truck drivers, and it is causing a
huge frenzy in this job line.
When AI dispenses with jobs (all the more precisely, the
requirement for them), there is the undeniable loss of pay.
This implies less disposable income and a decrease in
spending on nice-to-have goods and luxuries. Less
demand compels costs to drop. If costs dip under a level
where commodity margins are threatened, the organization
and at last the business.
7. Why AI will create
more jobs than it tak
es!
The Demand for man-machine Hybrid
Teams:
The future of employment will depend on how well
humans and AI blend to create augmented hybrid teams.
An AI has strengths such as speed, accuracy,
computation, etc. A human has strengths such as
empathy, judgment, cognition, etc. This role will combine
these strengths of both AI and humans to generate better
business outcomes
Worldwide Employment:
Companies that effectively implement AI can generate
more money for their businesses. This, in turn, leads to
higher employee wages, better technology tools, and
greater efficiency. With such success, companies can
actually spread their reach across the world. As a result,
they will require a global workforce, which again
generates huge employment opportunities.
8. The area of robotics will see massive growth in
the next few years. AI-based, and fully automated
aerial drones, are gaining significant business
interest from companies globally. This increased
demand is bound to open a lot of job roles for AI
robotics engineers.
AI in Healthcare:
Healthcare is one area where there is a lot of
scope for AI applications. In the near future, AI-
powered healthcare will be available at a scale
and on-demand for everyone. Hence, the
requirement for AI-assisted healthcare technician
jobs will see an upward surge.
AI in Robotics:
9. 6. Automated Transportation
Our society will gain countless hours of productivity
with just the introduction of thid and AI influencing
our traffic congestion issues not to mention the
other ways it will improve on-the-job productivity.
Freed up from stressful commutes, humans will be
able to spend their time in a variety of other ways.
5. AI in Education:
The education industry is slowly shifting
towards e-learning. Concepts such as
smart content, personalized learning,
and other data-driven operations
depend heavily on AI. For facilitating
such growth, the industry will need to
hire plenty of AI and machine learning
experts.
8. AI in the Gaming Industry:
AI plays an indispensable role that is reaping huge
rewards for gaming companies. With virtual reality
games becoming highly popular, companies are
bound to invest a lot of money on AI-based
systems.
7. AI in the Entertainment Industry:
AI algorithms help in recommending media which
suits the consumer’s preferences. This is just one
of the umpteen use cases that AI offers in this
industry. The industry will therefore definitely hire a
huge AI workforce to fulfil all their requirements.
10. INDUSTRIES IMPACTED BY THE AI REVOLUTION

So, the number of industries using AI is also expanding to the point where virtually no major enterprise will be untouched by this
rapidly unfolding technology revolution so advantages of Artificial intelligence applications are enormous and can revolutionize any
professional sector and, the expectation will be that artificial intelligence will generally have a more positive than negative impact on
society.
RETAIL
11. Recent AI advances, while seemingly
impressive, are very narrow in scope and
require a lot of human supervision and input
to work in real applications.
While as many as 47% of current jobs
contain tasks that may be automatable,
less than 5% of jobs will be fully
automatable by 2030.
The actual percentage of jobs that will be automated will be lower,
because technology adoption lags behind technology development
due to costs in implementation, maintainence, and overcoming
cultural and regulatory hurdles.
Like with many new technology that came before, many AI tools
will augment and not replace workers by automating subtasks of
a job. This augmentation may raise demand in some industries
while depressing wages in others.
For the jobs that AI will displace, the impact will vary
greatly across countries, industries, education levels,
socioeconomic status, age, and gender. These
disparities may have socially and politically
destabilizing effects.
To alleviate short-term economic impact, it is
important for governments to enact policies
that value human capital and help displaced
workers transition to new jobs in growing
industries, such as healthcare and education.
12. In the previous slide, we have summarized the
findings of recent studies and argue that the impact of
AI on jobs in the near future will (most likely) not be
significantly more disruptive than the impact of
automation has been in the past. The number of jobs
created by AI and automation in general will likely
outnumber the jobs displaced. However, because
workers of different countries, sectors, and income-
levels will be affected differently, we still need
governments to proactively enact prescriptive labor
policies to facilitate smooth workforce transitions.
13. CONCLUSION
Although Artificial
Intelligence dramatically improves our
world in many ways, there are notable
concerns regarding the
forthcoming impact of A.I. on
employment and the workforce.
There are predictions talking about
millions of unemployed people in the next
decades — primarily due to the impact of
Intelligent Automation and A.I. systems.
In any case, the entire socioeconomic
system is entering a phase of accelerating
transformation: markets, businesses,
education, government, social
welfare, and employment models will be
severely impacted.
