• Ulric Neisser: American Psychologist who first
used cognitive psychology.
• According to Neisser, cognition involves "all
processes by which the sensory input is
transformed, reduced, elaborated, stored, recover
ed, and used.
• This type of thinking is everywhere!

• Cognitive thinking is much different than
behaviorism
• Cognitive psychology is concerned with internal
mental states (Cherry).
• This psychology uses research to obtain
information on the theory.

6. IN THE CLASSROOM
• Having knowledge of this theory helps teachers teach
students who learn differently. These students obtain
material another way but still succeed in school.
• Teachers must have lesson plans and activities that
directly aims to these types of learners.
• Deeper thinking activities will help fuel the success to
these type of learners.

• Students must be organized and focus in class.
• No busy work, the students will be doing work that is
valuable and the work must be done to be successful.

• I found this theory on learning to be extremely
helpful for my future endeavors.
• I will try to access my students’ cognitive
behavior and direct my lesson plans to all of
those thinking styles.
• I will not give busy work, everything is useful!
