- Dallas (Scottish Gaelic: Dalais meaning 'valley of water') is a small rural village in Moray, Scotland, south west of Elgin. It has a population of between 150 and 200. Although not well-known, many larger settlements around the world are named after it. George Mifflin Dallas, whose family originally came from here, became the Vice President of the USA, and Dallas, Texas may have been named after him. In Australia, Dallas, a suburb of Melbourne is also named after it.
