Narayana Murthy is an Indian industrialist and software engineer who founded Infosys in 1981. He obtained his B.E. degree from University of Mysore in 1967 and his M.Tech. degree from IIT Kanpur in 1969. He retired from Infosys in 2006 but remains as non-executive chairman. Infosys opened its first international office in the U.S. in 1987 and now has over 50,000 employees and a turnover of over $1.6 billion. Murthy is also involved in other organizations such as IIM Ahmadabad, Singapore Management University, and Asian Institute of Management.
