MoLeNET ran in 07/08 Bids for 09/10 in Autumn 2008 32 colleges awarded bids We got the £300k maximum after delivering our pitch at the LSN in London Immediate other needs => budget, technical support …….
Part of the vision From the Castle College ‘new era’ booklet which was published four years ago – 2006 – something we are moving towards
The MoLeNET project coincided with the early stages of a phased move to a new college building with a much improved technical infrastructure. Together, MoLeNET and the new build provided the focus that was required in order for change to happen quickly. Reality - webcam image - matches the architech drawing
Detailed project plan in place - many sub-projects Large range of devices purchased The project is placing a wide range of mobile devices into the hands of teachers, technicians and learners across a wide range of curricula. This development is seen as part of a longer-term college-wide technology strategy which sees m-learning and e-learning converging.
Examples of devices in action Everything from hairdressing, to animal care, to construction, to basic skills …. Large range of curriculum areas involved Lots of devices used
In the College – lots of curriculum areas involved
MoleNet had tight deadlines, no time for proper training Staff had to rely on one another This contributed to success of CAMEL – used events and Moodle forums to ask questions and share ideas CAMEL – sharing was about pedagogy rather than technology 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 1 PSP session, SCC, July 2009 2 CAMEL session at Norfolk Park, June 2009 3 MoLeNET3 launch event, December 2009 4 MoLeNET3 launch event, December 2009 5 David Foord, CAMEL event, October 2009 6 CAMEL launch event, February 2009 7 CAMEL session, Hillsborough Barracks, March 2009 8 MoLeNET CPD, February 2010
