4. C H A I R M A N ’ S M ESSAG E
We are pleased to our annual training plan 2012. The plan focuses on supporting the banking
and finance sector, in the UAE by enhancing its continuous efforts to upgrade the skills and
competencies of its human resources, and enabling them to provide excellent services and
innovative products.
The new 2012 training plan has several distinguishing features, at the forefront of which is the
application of a scientific approach to meet the existing and future needs of the banking sector,
and helping it flourish in a turbulent environment characterized by various challenges, hence
sustaining its growth and enhancing its contribution to our national economy.
2 The entry of the new Dubai branch into service during the year 2012 widens the geographical coverage of the plan, and
represents an addition to Sharjah and Abu Dhabi branches and other locations where training is offered.
Cooperation with regional and international distinguished banking and financial institutions is maintained to reinforce our
plans with the state of the art and best practices in training and development. It is worth mentioning here that we are develop-
ing our training and educational programs by introducing new professional programs in areas of high relevance to the
banking and finance sector such as credit management, banking operations, compliance awareness and anti – money
laundering awareness. In addition to that, we will also introduce new graduate and post-graduate programs.
As we present this plan, we would like to encourage all Banking and Finance Institutions to benefit from all the (403)
programs included in the plan.
I would also like to thank all the HR & Training managers, other employees in the banking & finance sector for their appreci-
ated cooperation in developing the plan, and express many thanks to EIBFS staff
Lastly, I hope that the 2012 training plan will facilitate achieving our objective in enhancing the capabilities of the staff of the
banking and finance sector in UAE.
Ahmed Humaid Al Tayer
Chairman
5. G M ’ S M ESSAG E
In our relentless efforts to meet the current and future needs of the Banking & Finance sector in the
state, in the area of training & development, we at EIBFS are committed to the continuous improve-
ment of our training programs. This commitment to continuous improvement is exemplified in 2012
training plan.
Annually we work in close collaboration with the Banking & Finance sector, to develop the training
plan using a scientific approach to determine training needs, prioritize them and design the
program to satisfy them, keeping an eye on the new developments in the international scene.
The 2012 Annual Training Plan represents a quantum leap compared to the 2011 training plan,
by adding (14) new programs in several training areas to match the requirements of the Banking & Finance Sector. This
brings the total number of our 2012 programs to (403) training programs, representing 14.5% increase compared to the
3
2011 training plan. (36) programs will be organized and offered in our new branch in Dubai; that will broaden our
geographical coverage, in addition to the existing branches of Sharjah and Abu Dhabi and other locations where training
is offered such as Al-Fujairah & Al-Ain. In addition to that, a number of training programs will be offered in the evenings, in
response to the requirements of the Banking & Financial institutions.
Diversification of programs is another major characteristic of the 2012 annual training plan that suits the needs of various
levels, the plan includes a number of professional certificate programs offered in cooperation with reputable international
institutions, such as: The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants-UK, The Hong Kong Institute of Bankers, and The
Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment Qualifications.
The plan also includes a number of round tables, workshops, in addition to, leadership programs aiming at developing
Leaders, implemented in collaboration with Darden Business School, Virginia University and Harvard University.
Lastly, I would like to encourage all employees in the Banking & Finance sector to benefit from all the programs and develop-
ment activities included in 2012 annual Training plan. We really thank the banks on their active participation to make our
plan a success.
My best wishes and hopes for a successful and productive year to all.
