   Very useful for efficiently surveilling a large
    area for many reasons:
    ◦   Battlefield intelligence
    ◦   Searching for minerals
    ◦   Border control
    ◦   Bush fire
    ◦   Search and rescue
    ◦   Police work
    ◦   Environment and
        biological sensing

   Objective - to develop a UAV system that
    can be used for missions that are too dull,
    dirty or dangerous for manned aircraft
   The system will essentially be a distributed
    fleet of UAV’s that interact with each other
    ◦ Also known as a MultiAgent system
    ◦ Each UAV has a specific task that contributes to
      the mission goal

   Use a variety of sensors such as laser vision,
    optic sensors, thermo vision, GPS
   The UAV should be of military standard
   Should perform well
   Robust in harsh conditions
   Meet all requirements for designated
    applications (military, mineral exploration)
    ◦ Flight time / duration

    ◦ Communication capability

3. Vital resources not available for successful

4. Damage to UAV during testing and development
5. Safety of employees – follow CASA (Civil Aviation
   Safety Authority) operation, airworthiness and
   regulation policies
6. Change in the scope and specifications of the
   project
7. Delay in acquiring of parts
8. Poor weather conditions leading to delay in testing
   phase
9. Component failure
