Fear God
DEUT 5:29; Oh that there were such an heart in them,

Why does the Gospel
Angel shout with a loud
voice, "Fear God"?
"Fear" means to respect
or reverence God! A
recognition of His might
and majesty and holiness.
When we and others truly
see that character, there
will be born in us deep
reverence for, and
adoration of our Maker
that will show itself in
respect, obedience,
service, and the desire to
glorify His name by the
way we live.

Give Glory to God
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good
works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matt 5.16.
What! Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy
Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not
your own?
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your
body and in your spirit which are God’s. 1 Cor 6:19-20
I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from flesh
lusts, which war against the soul
Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that
whereas they speak against you as evildoers, that they by your

kingdom. This is clearly taught in Dan 7:17,23:

in Christendom in 538AD. Due to the
letter of the Roman emperor Justinian
known as Justinian’s decree, which
was set up and acknowledged the
Bishop of Rome as head of all
churches.

The biblical measurement for prophesied
periods as 1 day equal to 1 year (Ez 4:6
and Num 14:34) makes it plain that in all
these references it is referring to the
same period of time of 1260 actual years.
One "time" by their understanding was
meant to mean one year. In those days
they calculated in lunar years of 360 days
per year. One lunar month consisted of
30 days (see time of flood in Gen 7:11,24;
8:4 - here are 150 days 5 months).
Accordingly we find that 3 1/2 times (3 1/2
years) multiplied by twelve months
equals 42 months, and 42 months
multiplied by 30 days equals 1260 days,
or 1260 actual years in history. We find
that this…

prophesied time period found its actual
fulfilment in the history of the papacy. The
final destruction of the East Gothic Empire
around 538 AD, (which was the last power, or
"Horn", that withstood Rome), is generally
being understood as the beginning of the
political dominating position of the papacy.
When we start counting 1260 years from this
period of history we arrive at the year 1798
AD. Exactly during this year Pope Pius VI was
made captive under the leadership of the
French general Berthiér. Pope Pius VI died in
prison. The following prediction was fulfilled:
"He that leadeth into captivity shall go into
captivity." Rev 13:10

The Church, on the other hand, after changing the

day of the week, to the first, made the Third
Commandment refer to Sunday as the day to be
kept holy as the Lord's Day. The Council of Trent
(Sess. VI, can. xix) condemns those who deny that
the Ten Commandments are binding on Christians.

AD321, Constantine decreed, "On the venerable day of
the Sun let the magistrates and people residing in
cities rest, and let all workshops be closed" (Codex
Justinianus lib. 3, tit. 12, 3; trans. in Philip Schaff,
History of the Christian Church, Vol. 3, p. 380, note 1).
The German historian, H G Heggtveit, describes these
events as follows:
"Constantine laboured at this time, untiringly, to unite
the worshippers of the old and new faith, into one
religion. All his laws and contrivances were aimed at
promoting this amalgamation of religions. He would by
all lawful and peaceful means, melt together a purified
heathenism and a moderated Christianity."

H.R. Boer, in his popular publication of 1976,
entitled A Short History of the Early Church, writes
concerning the Sunday law:
"He designated Sunday by its traditional pagan
name - the Day of the Sun -not the Sabbath or the
Day of the Lord. Pagans could therefore accept it,
while Christians gave the natural sun a new
meaning by thinking of Christ as the Sun of
Righteousness...Although Constantine and later
emperors, as well as Church councils, enacted
additional Sunday legislation, it was Constantine's
decree of AD 321, that laid the basis for the
universal recognition of Sunday as a day of rest." 2

Sunday, an apostolic Tradition, replaces the
sabbath:
2175 Sunday is expressly distinguished from the sabbath which it
follows chronologically every week; for Christians its ceremonial
observance replaces that of the sabbath.

2177 "The Sunday celebration of the Lord's Day and his Eucharist
is at the heart of the Church's life.
'Sunday is the day on which the paschal mystery is celebrated in
light of the apostolic tradition and is to be observed as the foremost

Dear sir:
Regarding the change from the observance of the Jewish
Sabbath to the Christian Sunday, I wish to draw your
attention to the facts:
(1) That Protestants, who accept the Bible as the only rule
of faith and religion, should by all means go back to
the observance of the Sabbath. The fact that they do
not, but on the contrary observe Sunday, stultifies
them in the eyes of every thinking man.

2) We Catholics do not accept the Bible as the
only rule of faith. Besides the Bible we have
the living Church, the authority of the Church,
as a rule to guide us. We say, this Church
instituted by Christ, to teach and guide men
through life, has the right to change the
Ceremonial laws of the Old Testament and hence,
we accept her change of the Sabbath to Sunday.
We frankly say, "yes, the Church made this
change, made this law, as she made many other
laws, for instance, the Friday Abstinence, the
unmarried priesthood, the laws concerning
mixed marriages, the regulation of Catholic
marriages, and a thousand other laws.

(3) We also say that of all Protestants,
the Seventh-day Adventists are the
only group that reason correctly and
are consistent with their
teachings. It is always somewhat
laughable to see the Protestant Churches,
in pulpit and legislature, demand the
observance of Sundays of which there
is nothing in the Bible.
