The document discusses various examples of detachable connections used in different fields including furniture, fashion, boats, and bicycles. Many of the examples utilize folding, collapsing, or disassembling designs to allow for compact storage and portable transportation. A wide range of detachable connection methods are presented, such as hinges, buckles, zippers, hook-and-loop fasteners, screws, and other joining techniques.

a pattern of lines of the components needed to
build the pieces of furniture he designed. The
buyer must decide which pieces they want to

Once assembled, the original graphic patterns
add graphic elements attractive to furniture finish.
In the project in 2440 × 1220, Saw, Assemble I have

DIY build on individual creativity, a person’s
capacity for initiative and someone wants to
realize one’s ideas. I have been inspired by a

the pattern of two-dimensional furniture. The
parts of the furniture pieces are printed on and
is associated with a standard sheet of plywood.

Model Sail Boat Building
The modern R/C model sailing craft
is as different from a toy boat as a
museum display model is from a
child‘s tinker-toy creation. A model
sailing craft operates with the same
sophistication of design as any full-
sized yacht. As a skipper you control
all the sails and the rudder. This
model is wind powered. It is not
intended to be powered by a motor.

Extend to Contend
Extend to Contend
Welcome to the future of furniture design, where
to be static is to be left sitting still! Born of a
desire to question contemporary furniture design,
this project by Aïssa Logerot called “Extensions”
addresses the concept of multipurpose use and
the desire for durability and quality. Products in this
Extensions project are made in a non-fixed state,
made to become whatever they need to be as the
situation in which they are in changes!
Assembly first, right there next to concern for eco-
design. Aïssa Logerot took into account packaging,
transportation, storage, mounting, dismantling,
and of course, mantling.

Shrink
Shrink
The series is appropriately titled „Shrink.“ The idea
is wonderfully simple, and the execution precise
and imaginative. Nicola describes it best: „So, just
using hot air, it‘s possible to build and fix chairs,
bookshelves and tables.“
Of course it‘s not so simple: serious thought has
gone into the forces at play in the furniture, with
stainless steel surfaces bent to meet exactly milled
notches in the wood, providing the necessary
forces to stabilize the colorful joints.

Mindbike
Mindbike
Mindbike is like IKEA furniture. It can be available in
a flat pack, and you get to assemble it at home with
your handy tools. (Perhaps, with some sweat.)
Unlike all the other bicycles, mindbike‘s frame uses
a modular aluminum pipe, and bolts are used to
connect all the parts. In another words, all you need
is several wrenches to assemble all the parts.
Mindbike employs a single beam design, creating a
whole definition to a bicycle design.

Folding Wheel System
Urban Bicycle Concept with Folding
Wheel System
designed by Victor Aleman in Mexico
The Eco 7 folds up to fit in your luggage. Ever
wanted to go far away on an airplane or train but
couldn’t take your bike because it was too bulky to
store it in the cargo hold? Well with the Eco 7 bike
you won’t have a problem.
The parts are easy to assemble and dissemble.
Even the wheels fold up! There are other folding
bikes on the market, but they are not as compact
because the wheels do not fold. Here you can see
the spokes of the wheel folding into the rim.

The compactable bicycle concept was driven from
the need of boosting urban space efficiency when
it is not in use or being transported. The wheel is

smaller. The spokes of the wheel are contained in
the internal structure when you fold the bicycle
and the spokes rotate to the system’s center where
they attach with the center wheel. This bicycle is
designed in a double triangle structure made of
expandable modules with foldable ability. To keep
the structure in position, the system has utilized a

My apologies for the yellowish image quality, but
unfortunately I did not have a lightbox for my
lightbox!
Note: In the first four steps, I have indicated places
where blue K’nex/red or white connectors take the
place of white K’nex/purple or blue connectors in
the general model using an *asterisk symbol. These
longer blue pieces are used as ground supports
on the bottom, and as places where the eyelets
of your screen will catch along the top or side of
the structure (depending on which direction you
are photographing). Furthermore, not all blue
replacements have been indicated with an asterisk
— just those that are hard to see. Keep an eye out
for these subtle changes in the general structure!

Bamboo Raft
Bamboo Raft
To build your raft, you‘ll need a lot of wood and
vine for lashing. As with the spear, bamboo is the
best thing to use for your raft. The hollow culms,
or stems, of bamboo are filled with air, making it
extremely buoyant. Cutting down a large bamboo
plant is virtually impossible because of its strength,
so your best bet is to burn it at its base until it falls.
Piercethelowerculmstoreleasetheairandprevent
an explosion.
Before you start construction, place two large
bamboo trees on the ground about 8 feet apart.
Build the raft on top of these to help slide it into the
water -- it will be extremely heavy. You should also
build it close enough to the water to get it in with
ease, but not so close that it‘s in danger of floating
away with high tide.http://photography.nationalgeographic.com/wallpaper/

Bamboo Raft
Bamboo Raft
The construction of the raft is pretty simple, but
takes time -- something you‘ll have plenty of. Build
your frame first:
Get four large pieces of bamboo. One set should be
roughly 8 feet long, the other 12 feet.
Place the longer pieces in the bottom, then the
shorter ones on top to form a square.
The long pieces will extend from each side by 4 feet
and act as stabilizing pontoons.
Lash together everything together tightly with
rope or vine.

Assembling the Pakcanoe
Assembling the Pakcanoe
all of the long poles are shock-corded for ease of
organization. They have a colored dot and different
lengths to help matching up later in the assembly
process.
As each pole is assembled, they’re laid out side-
by-side for ease of identification. I usually keep all
of them lined up on one end, so you can see the
different sizes at a glance.
The canoe skin is a heavy synthetic canvas, coated
with PVC, very tough. The underside has a few extra
abrasion strips where the bottom of the canoe gets
the most wear. It is unrolled on the ground next to
the long poles.
