  1. I am a self professed control freak. At the beginning of the year whenever I was put in a group I would take the role of the leader. I made sure that I oversaw every detail, and made sure that my ideas were heard and prevalent . I wasn’t letting other people extend to their full abilities, and was restraining myself too. Working with different groups has taught me to be less controlling, and value other people’s input. This past semester I have learned how to be led, as leading. Learning how to improve myself has led me to begin to be the best group member I can be.
  2. Finishing up our project, we realized our electric componentsdidn’t fit on our board. So we wrote down the problem“ How do we make everything fit? ” ,Got together, and brainstormed ways to fix ourproblem. I learned that asking questions is the best way to get answers.
  3. In the cell phone project I was able to gain skills and experience things I wouldn’t have if I wasn’t in G2. I got to present in front of the school board, as well as my peers, teachers, and people at exhibition night. I was able to work with different people, so I gained group work skills and get experience solving problems and challenges quickly and efficiently. We also changed the cell phone policy, so I got a firsthand look at the process of civic activism and got to make a positive change for the people at Central.
  4. Through the cell phone project I was able to see different people’s points of view, and understand how valuable it is to have those perspectives. I saw students, community members, parents, administration, staff, and teachers perspectives on the cell phone policy. For example we got important information from Ms. Hill’s comments on students using their cell phones to leave school without anyone knowing, which helped us make our policy better.
  5. For my earth history project, I had to write and essay and paint a picture of my time period. I wanted to make sure that all of my information was correct, so I only used verified sites that Ms. Earl gave us. I learned about the condition of the earth from the Evolving Planet site, so I knew how to do my painting accurately. Knowing how to get the correct information is important, so being able to sort out the irrelevant information is a critical skill to have.
  6. Beginning the game board project, I thought it was only going to involve math and science, but as it progressed, more subjects started to link to the project. We had to use art and technology to create the design, we had to combine Language arts, math, and science to write our rules and instructions, and we had to mix social studies in with our behavior in presenting and explaining our games to the kids that played them.
  7. I want to keep improving my group work skills, and challenge myself to try new things in group projects. In groups I am going to listen more, and open up to different ideas in learning. The teamwork and leadership skills that I have learned so far are going to help me next semester, and in future jobs and projects. As the year goes on, my projects are going to get better and stronger.
  8. In groups I take charge out of a impulse to lead, and lead on penchant instinct and intuition. I have the ability to be a team player, and let others take the leadership role. I am a perfectionist, and there is always something I can improve on and do better next time.
