3. Metal braces
 The most common option, metal braces are
made from stainless steel. Unlike the big,
bulky braces of years past, today’s metal
braces are smaller and much less obtrusive.

4. Clear braces
 Because they are translucent, ceramic braces
are a popular choice with adult orthodontic
patients. However, ceramic braces are more
delicate than other types of braces, and the
elastic ties may become discolored in between
visits.

5. Damon braces
 Named after the man who invented them, Dr.
Dwight Damon, Damon braces feature
brackets that allow the wire to slide back and
forth. Since there are no elastic or steel ties,
patient often feel more comfortable and
experience less friction. In addition, the teeth
stay cleaner longer, which reduces the need
for trips to the orthodontist.
