Technology, specifically social interactions online, are shaping the way we do and will continue to education ourselves and get ahead in our career. In this talk, I explored how we can shape a better education system, worldwide, by embracing these social technologies.

- Knowledge work, not industrial work. Certainly not repetition. It’s problem identification and solving. The answer is not in the back of the book.Working on a team – not one slapped together by a teacher, but a set of people put together with distinct skills and roles, with each person delivering their part.
- Yes.The problem is exasperated in developing countries such as India and China. More graduates are being churned out with, theoretically, a similar knowledge base as the western world, but the skills gap is even wider. While they have the papers and certifications to join the world in knowledge work, they aren’t being prepared to work on an international scale, a critical factor for success.
- Something like half of the job titles that today’s high school students will have in the future haven’t been defined yet.Product manager.Data scientist, biomedical engineer etc. Beyond that? Who knows.Curriculums are out of date, and for some key technical courses, this can impact the quality of graduates hugely. We’re not being prepared for the jobs of the future.PHP example.

Make use of skills – high level of concentration, attention to detail.Manage the employees, socialise and train them.Employers are finding the benefit in having people specifically suited for the job, and are willing to go to lengths for the right candidate.
- We’re human, and all have basic desires to learn and improve.
- We are social beings! People are good at sharing. They do it all the time on facebook. A lot of energy is put in to Facebook every day by the digital generation.
