Home Care
• Make list of all equipment & its current
location.
• Do the maintenance check on each equipment
before delivery to patient home.
• Backup for life sustaining equipment at home
health care office e.g., ventilator, suction
machine.
• All HCWs should be cross-trained in equipments
of various modalities.

7. Oxygen Safety Precautions
• Keep the oxygen at least 3 meters from any open
flame or heat source.
• Do not smoke or let anyone else smoke near the
oxygen equipment.
• Avoid using anything flammable near the oxygen,
including petrol, cleaning fluid, and aerosol cans or
sprays such as fresheners or hairspray.
• Do not allow oil or grease to come into contact
with oxygen supply devices. This also includes
petroleum jelly.
• Check that all electrical equipment in the vicinity of
the oxygen is properly grounded (earthed).

8. Oxygen Safety Precautions
• Avoid using electrical appliances such as hairdryers
and razors while oxygen is in use.
• Oxygen concentrator should be inspected and
serviced regularly according to the supplier's
instructions.
• Store oxygen cylinders in an upright secure
position in a well-ventilated area.
• Handle oxygen equipment with care to avoid
damaging cylinders.
• Secure and transport oxygen cylinders correctly.
• Use the correct pressure gauge and regulator.

9. Fill OVR by Reporting
• If there was an injury, what happened
to the persons affected?
• Where was the patient at the time of
the event?
• What happened while the patient or
HCW was using the device?
• What was the problem with the
device(s) involved?

10. Fill OVR by Reporting
• What is the purpose for using of device?
• What are the names of the
manufacturers of the devices involved?
• What are the relevant manufacturer
device identification numbers?
–Serial, model, lot, catalog, and any
other specific information
• What did HCW do to solve the problem?
- Call Maintenance.
