 Diversity Impact on Business
 The impact of diversity and inclusion is felt
throughout our society and it is due to
societal norms shifting that the impact has led
to changes in perception of diversity and
inclusion within the workplace. The purpose
of this presentation is to discuss and
highlight the impact of diversity and
inclusion at all levels of an organization, as
well as the continued need for focus on
diversity and inclusion efforts with regards to
Human Resource Management.
 Diversity of thought requires you to surround
yourself with individuals that don’t think
like you. That’s hard to do because our
natural tendency is to be with people that
share our views. It can be
irritating, disturbing and disruptive to
surround yourself with individuals that are
opposite of you. It’s challenging to manage a
team that has unique and different
perspectives
 The Census Bureau recently reported that the
US minority population currently exceeds 100
million people.
 As the United States population becomes
more diverse, companies that do not
proactively participate diversity recruiting
will lose ground to those companies that are
successful at it.
 Diversity recruiting and general recruiting are
merging and becoming indistinguishable.
 Employing and retaining a diverse workforce
ensures your business is more appealing to a
wider customer base and ensures that there is a
richer employee base of creativity.
 Customers are more likely to identify and patron
a business that shows diversity which represents
the diversity that the customer presents.
 Without carefully incorporating training and
broad communication, diversity has the potential
to be destructive to employee retention.
 Research does show that there is an empirical
link between a diverse workforce and a better
performing employee base.
 Increased diversity of the workforce can
sometimes cause problems and conflict.
 Recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce
can result in measureable and marked
improvements in a company’s long-term
 It is clear to see that recruiting and retaining a diverse
workforce is results in a more inclusive and engage
employee and results in a more engage and broader
customer base. However, a company must carefully
plan and execute a diversity initiative with the
involvement and planning assistance of Human
Resource Management to appropriately engage
current employees and attract and retain future
diverse employees. By utilizing a diverse
workforce, employees are able to bring their whole
selves to work, which results in a more productive
and creative work environment for all employees. It
is important to remember that diversity encompasses
much more than the traditional or standard few
categories, which include race, gender, or sexual
orientation.

  • 3.  The impact of diversity and inclusion is felt throughout our society and it is due to societal norms shifting that the impact has led to changes in perception of diversity and inclusion within the workplace. The purpose of this presentation is to discuss and highlight the impact of diversity and inclusion at all levels of an organization, as well as the continued need for focus on diversity and inclusion efforts with regards to Human Resource Management.
  • 4.  Diversity of thought requires you to surround yourself with individuals that don’t think like you. That’s hard to do because our natural tendency is to be with people that share our views. It can be irritating, disturbing and disruptive to surround yourself with individuals that are opposite of you. It’s challenging to manage a team that has unique and different perspectives
  • 5.  The Census Bureau recently reported that the US minority population currently exceeds 100 million people.  As the United States population becomes more diverse, companies that do not proactively participate diversity recruiting will lose ground to those companies that are successful at it.  Diversity recruiting and general recruiting are merging and becoming indistinguishable.
  • 6.  Employing and retaining a diverse workforce ensures your business is more appealing to a wider customer base and ensures that there is a richer employee base of creativity.  Customers are more likely to identify and patron a business that shows diversity which represents the diversity that the customer presents.  Without carefully incorporating training and broad communication, diversity has the potential to be destructive to employee retention.
  • 7.  Research does show that there is an empirical link between a diverse workforce and a better performing employee base.  Increased diversity of the workforce can sometimes cause problems and conflict.  Recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce can result in measureable and marked improvements in a company’s long-term
  • 8.  It is clear to see that recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce is results in a more inclusive and engage employee and results in a more engage and broader customer base. However, a company must carefully plan and execute a diversity initiative with the involvement and planning assistance of Human Resource Management to appropriately engage current employees and attract and retain future diverse employees. By utilizing a diverse workforce, employees are able to bring their whole selves to work, which results in a more productive and creative work environment for all employees. It is important to remember that diversity encompasses much more than the traditional or standard few categories, which include race, gender, or sexual orientation.
