2. Mr. Raj Jain is the Chairman & Managing Director of R.S
Software India Ltd. His professional career began as a
Software Systems Analyst when he was based in Los
Angeles. He returned to India and began afresh as an
independent Consultant in 1989. Soon he started his
entrepreneurial venture, R S Software (India) Ltd. The
company focuses on providing quality software services
from India to the international markets. Mr. Jain
completed his B.Sc. and MBA from California, USA.
Within a very short span of time Mr. Jain realized that Kolkata is the right place
for him to demonstrate his leadership qualities. After a serious planning he chose
Kolkata for his debut venture during the time when the city was not pictured as
an ideal place on the software map of India. Under the leadership, visionary and
entrepreneurial zeal of Mr. Raj Jain R S Software became a $25 million revenue
company from a humble start‐up in that began in 1991.
Post 9/11 attacks of World Trade Centre in New York, when the IT Industry was
affected globally by the dot‐com burst phenomena, Mr. Jain established a strong
management team with competent workforce to secure the Company's recovery
in a quick time frame. He quickly chose a systematic plan of action of the
Company to become domain focused in the Electronic Payment space to survive
during the crisis. The Company under his leadership has become a global leader in
providing solutions to the Electronic Payments Industry.
Mr. Jain also had held an esteemed position in the Executive Council of
NASSCOM, both as a member as well as Office Bearer. He was elected as the
Chairman of NASSCOM by its Executive Council in 1999. Presently Mr. Jain is a
member of the Chairmen Emeritus while continuing to serve as an Executive
Member in NASSCOM.
Mr. Jain’s immense contribution as a member of the Kolkata Chapter of TIE (The
IndUS Entrepreneurs) and YPO (Young Presidents Organization) have helped
several emerging entrepreneurs to frame up a proper roadmap.
In 1999 Mr. Jain was awarded the “Top 20 Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year
Award” by Ernst & Young for the successful venture of RS Software.
