Market Highlight
Gold prices staged a mild rebound on
Monday in early Asia, but copper fell on
disappointing China trade data with
investors focused on Greece as well.
On the Comex division of the New York
Mercantile Exchange, gold futures for
April delivery rose 0.36% to $1,238.50 a
troy ounce. Also on the Comex, silver
futures for March delivery rose 0.40% to
settle at $16.763 a troy ounce.
Elsewhere in metals trading, copper for
March delivery dropped 0.34% to
$2.582 a pound.
Natural gas futures declined for the
third consecutive session on Friday to
hit the lowest level in 32 months, as
investors assessed the near-term demand
outlook amid ample supplies.
On the New York Mercantile Exchange,
natural gas for delivery in March
retreated 2.1 cents, or 0.81%, on Friday
to settle at $2.579 per million British
thermal units by close of trade. Earlier
in the day, prices touched $2.567, a
level not seen since June 21,
2012.Futures were likely to find support
at $2.539 per million British thermal
units, the low from June 21, 2012, and
resistance at $2.698, the high from
February 5.
Global benchmark Brent crude oil for
March was up 30 cents at $58.10 a
barrel by 0140 GMT after rising as high
as $59.06 earlier in the session. U.S.
crude was up 60 cents at $52.29 a barrel,
having hit a session high of $53.40.
