1. Who are we?
We are the Exeter University Shotokan Karate Club (EUSKC) and are associated
with the Karate Union of Great Britain (KUGB). We train twice a week with our
Sensei, Trevor Jarrett (5th Dan), and have gradings once a term.
Competitions
We attend several competitions throughout the academic year in
which there is an opportunity to compete in kata, kumite and team
events. All competitions are optional and both beginners as well
as experienced karataka can take part.
Gradings
As a club we grade once a term allowing students to advance by getting
a new coloured belt and a new syllabus. We are assessed by the head
of our organisation, Andy Sherry (8th Dan). Grading gives a great sense
of achievement and satisfaction.
Social
We are a close club with a strong social spirit. Everyone knows
each other and we often head to the pub after training to chill out.
However, we also have several key events throughout the year,
including a Christmas dinner and a summer BBQ.
