1. The Committee
Hi, my name is Sam and I am this year’s Shotokan Karate club captain.
Having started university with no experience of karate, I know that it can
be daunting training with the higher grades, but I was able to learn at my
own pace and have steadily improved and am now a 4th kyu. As well as
enjoying the sport, I also enjoy socialising with the club as we are a fairly
small club and, therefore, a close club; I look forward to meeting and
Email: socialising with new members this year.

Hey I’m Sophie and I’m your treasurer for 2010/11 so I will be in charge of
collecting any fees each session and keeping on top of the club’s finances.
I attended a local Wado-Ryu style karate club where I gained my 3rd kyu,
unfortunately I was then unable to continue with karate due to a succession
knee-related injuries but I was always determined to get back into karate as
soon as I was fit. Finally that day came after my first year of university and I
joined the Shotokan club here at Exeter, I am currently 8th kyu and am
thoroughly enjoying being back in a gi once more!

Hi, I am Drew and I am the General Secretary and Publicity Officer. I am a
2rd Kyu and first started training under Sensei Ashley Croft (6th Dan) at the
CKA in Bucks. When I first started training I remember feeling daunted and a
sense of awe at the level of skill exerted by higher grades. I joined EUSKC
last year and found a friendly atmosphere which encourages learning at your
own pace.
