A Pictorial of Local Support Organization formation in District Buner Malakand Agency. 2nd LSO (Local Support Organization) has been formed under EU PEACE program in UC Sorray, Tehsil Gagra, and District Buner.

The first dialogue was organized on March 10th
, 2015 to form 2nd
LSO (Local
Support Organization) in district Buner under PEACE at GHS (Government
High School) Muradu UC Soorey. In this dialogue thirty eight elected office
bearers and key members of twelve functional MVO (Male Village
Organizations) and SRSP staff (Distt PMER, VCO and SMT-2 & 3 Social
Organizers) participated. During dialogue the following outlines were shared
with the participants and briefed them in details.
 Prerequisites for LSO formation ( Active M/W COs, M/W/VOs in the
UCs)
 Objective of LSO formation in UC Soorey
 Importance of LSO
 Process of LSO formation
 Designations details in LSO as per RSPs constitution
 Procedure for the selection of LSO's Executive body.

2. The second dialogue of LSO formation was organized at GPS Topai, UC Soorey on March 12th
, 2015 at 1:00 Pm. In this dialogue executive body members and
their designations were decided through election, name of LSO was unanimously agreed and office venue and building was also discussed during the meeting. At
the end 18th
March, 2015 was fixed for 3rd
dialogue to establish LSO-Rorwali Welfare Organization (RWO) in UC Soorey under SRSP-EU-PEACE.
During 1st
dialogue executive body members and their designations were explained and process for their selection through Jirga of UC elders was carried out and
then election was defined and accomplished, Beside this different suggestion were also taken regarding the role and responsibilities of the executive body and
general body members.

5. The 2nd
LSO (Local Support Organization) has been formed under EU - PEACE program in UC Soorey at GHS Muradu on March 18th
, 2015, Tehsil
Gagra, and District Buner. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Abdul Samad, senior staff of swat region, Mr.Shahid Iqbal, in-charge Buner,Mr.Sayed
Sajad in-charge Malakand, Mr.Azhar Iqbal coordinator WASH project Buner and Mr.Shakeel Khan (Regional PMER) Swat Region.
The formal ceremony started with the recitation of few verses from Holy Quran, followed by formal introduction by the host Mr. Tariq Zaman CRP
UC Soorey.
The newly elected Chairman of the LSO-RWO,Mr.Mujahid Khan of UC Soorey welcomed the guests and shared his words of thanks.Then Mr.
Shahid Iqbal in-charge District Buner, paid high gratitude to all colleagues of SRSP from Swat,Shangla and Malakand. He also threw precise light on
SRSP-PEACE interventions in UC Soorey and on the formation of LSO and its importance in the great interest of the organized people of the UC
Soorey.

6. The LSO “Rorwali Welfare Organization (RWO)” is formed in
UC Soorey. The membership of LSO is 32. There are 2602 HH in
this UC while 2004 HH (77%) have been organized in the shape of
MCOs (62), WCOs (20), MVOs (12) and WVOs (2). Total
membership of MCOs is 1573, MM of WCOs is 431, MM of MVOs
is 240 and MM of WVOs is 40. Pukhutun, Mulyan,Miangan ,Gujar
and others are the major castes in the UC. Major source of
livelihood is agriculture, jobs, serving abroad, daily wage labor,
livestock rearing and driving. So far under EU PEACE program, 6
CPIs projects have been initiated in UC Soorey. 4 out of 6 CPIs are
complete while 2 are in progress, I MHP 35 Kw and 1 Link Road.
The elected General Secretary Mr. Bakth Roz Khan and Finance Secretary
Dr.Said Zaman of LSO-RWO portray their presentation and shared detailed
informations about the UC Soorey and also shared their planning for the
sustainability of newly formed LSO.

7. Mr. Shakeel Khan, Regional M&E Swat Region took oath from the
executive body members. Those include chairman, General Secretary,
Senior Vice Chairman, Deputy General Secretary, Finance Secretary, Press
Secretary and Office Secretary etc.
Mr. Shakeel Khan asked the gathering about the importance of responsibility and ownership and urged all members of LSO to be visionary and take
initiatives for the inclusion of people with disabilities, downtrodden people, widows and other poor segments of the society.

8. Mr. Abdul Samad, Senior staff member of SRSP swat region addressed the participants and urged to take their responsibilities seriously. He talked
about inclusion of poor and disadvantage groups in their COs. He also stressed on LSO members to keep their COs active and start thinking how to
initiate developmental initiatives in their UC. He strongly advised the LSO to avoid politics, invidualism and suggested collective actions through
participatory approaches. He also emphasize on the importance of saving, CNIC, Death and Birth registration, and appreciated the District Buner team.
At the end of a successful formation of 2nd
LSO in District Buner, under SRSP-EU-PEACE, the senior high school teacher and honorable elder of the
union council Soorey Mr. Noorul Huda appreciated the establishment of 1st
organized institution in the shaped of local Support Organization and
congratulated SRSP and all organized MCOs. MVOs and WCOs/WVOs. Finally this event was ended with words of thanks and prays.
