Colonial conflicts had begun with France and Britain, which
resulted in the destruction of the majority of the French
colonial empire.
The French had little settlers in the Americas unlike other
places in Europe.
Significant emigration of French Roman Catholic’s to the
provinces of Acadia, Canada and Louisiana.
