in Nome, Alaska.
The film juxtaposes archived
videos from the past and
reconstructs the story in the
future.
Although it’s a science
fiction horror some
elements and ideas can be
used like the documentary
side of it.
The trailer opens up
with the camera which
shows that the movie
might be based on true
events.
This can also show the
reality of the film as
there must be some
kind of evidence behind
it which the camera
reveals.

The font used looks like its
been typed up which makes it
look like a report. This makes
the film look realistic.
Before the trailer begins were told
that the face will be covered. This
makes the audience more curious
about why and how she's shown
with her face covered…

2. The speaker walks
towards the camera
which shows that she
will be addressing the
audience directly.
The background with
the forest and the
path shows some sort
of a mystery or secret
that’s going to be told.
At this point the
actress talks straight
to the audience which
shows the importance
given to the audience.
She introduces what
the movie is about in a
serious tone. This tells
us that the movie is
seen to have a lot of
importance, especially
because its based on
true events.
She makes direct
contact with the
audience because she's
talking about the
archive footage so
addressing the
audience gives them a
better understanding of
the film.

3. One of the first thing we see is
the location so where the film is
set. This allows the audience to
gain some background
information about the story.
This scene begins to merge
into the next scene…
This happens through the
fish tank because the blue
colour of the location
merges in with the water
perfectly.
From the fish tank the
scene cuts straight to
the main character for
the story to be told…
During the merge from the
first shot to the next there
is a voiceover that begins
to tell us about one of the
case study (and unusual
event)
From the fish tank scene to
the scene of people
conversing is quite blurred
which gives this unknown
and strange feeling.
When this blurred scene
cuts to the next scene its
the main actress which
suggests straight away that
she was part of the strange
conversation…
The colour of the location matches
everything like the colour of the
clothes she's wearing when
addressing the audience. This
shows it must have some kind of
significance in the movie…

4. These scenes show the
different kinds of people
in this story and it also
shows that these case
studies are real. This is
shown by the archive
footage and also the tapes
being recorded with
different cases on them.
The use of dialogues just
being shown whilst the
mouth is on the screen
rather than the actors
whole face shows that the
words that are being
spoken are important.
This also suggest that
perhaps who the person
speaking is doesn’t
matter, it’s what's being
spoken that has a effect
or more importance.
This shot tells the audience what to expect
and creates excitement for what will be
shown next. Also in the back the lady is
counting down like she's going to begin to
film which gives the feel of a real
supernatural thing that might take place…

5. Near the end of the trailer
the editing is fast paced
which suggest like the main
actress is running out of
time. This creates a sense
of fear in the audience
which leaves them wanting
to know more.
This shot is used to create fear in the
trailer as the door is slowly opening
and the voiceover tells us that
something came in the room at night.
This relates to the fourth kind that’s
being talked about in the movie which
is abduction.
The first shot of the speaker suggests some
danger because of the screaming. However
the second shot of the speaker is a close up
which shows that the danger is really close
now and anything can happen and by this
scene the audience is engaged with what's
going on and what will happen.
The way the name appears at the end
suits what the movie is about as the
fourth kind (abduction) is the last one
and so the name appears slowly as the
last scene at the end of the trailer…
