2. The Sugar Glider
Physical Adaptation:
Big Eyes:
- Used to lookout for predators
and to know where they are
going when gliding.
Flaps of Featherless Skin:
- Used to glide from tree to tree
and to catch insects while
gliding.
Tail:
- To carry items such as bark and
sticks.
- Also used as a steering wheel
when gliding.

3. Sturt’s Desert Pea
Structural Adaptation:
Long Tap Root:
- Allows access to water in the
deeper areas of the soil.
Functional Adaptation:
- The seeds have a long
sustainability, and can grow after
several years. It has a hard seed
covering, which protects the seed
from severe dry environments till the
following rainfall.
- When they bloom they produce
seeds which are carried away by
the wind, spreading them apart
This helps them to survive and continue
growing.
