2. Verbos auxiliares: ser, haber, estar
• Se usan para formar las formas compuestas de los verbos, la pasiva y
las perífrasis verbales:
- Hoy, ya he hecho mi tarea.
- María estuvo durmiendo todo el día.
3. Auxiliaries verbs: be, do, have, will
• When they are followed by another verb (the full verb) in
order to form a question, a negative sentence, a compound
tense or the passive.
- He is buying a house.
- The house was painted.
4. Verbos copulativos: ser, estar,
parecer
• Los verbos ser, estar y parecer funcionan como verbos predicativos
cuando les acompaña un complemento que no es un adjetivo:
- Ahora estoy en Guanajuato.
- Esto parece muy raro.
5. Copulative verbs: be, seem, appear,
look, etc.
• It is a verb form that joins a subject to an adjective or to
another noun.
• The verb to be may join a subject to a noun or an adjective.
- Juanita is my aunt. (noun)
- He is happy. (adjective)
6. Verbos regulares e
irregulares
Se pueden conjugar independientemente sin modificar la raíz
(lexema), y tiene terminaciones que se adecuan a cada tiempo y
modo. los verbos regulares en su primera conjugación terminan en
“ar”, “er” e “ir”.
Ejemplos: amar, florecer, convertir
Un verbo es irregular porque al conjugarse en algunos de sus
tiempos y modos, el mismo sufre una modificación en su raíz. Por
ejemplo:
En el caso del verbo hacer, se diría:
- hac-í, pero la forma correcta es hice
7. Regular and Irregular verbs
• A regular verb is one that follows the pattern of taking -ed for
the past simple and past participle (or -d if the verb ends in -e;
smoke smoked).
• EG: walk walked walked
• An irregular verb is one that does not take the -ed ending for
the Past Simple and Past Participle forms. Some irregular verbs
do not change; put put put, while others change completely;
buy bought bought, etc.
8. Verbos Transitivos e Intransitivos
• Los Verbos Transitivos son aquellos que pueden ir
acompañados de Complemento Directo.
• Ejemplos de Verbos Transitivos (el Complemento Directo en
negrita):
• Comprar: Juan compra comida
• Coger: coge el balón
• Los Verbos Intransitivos son verbos que no pueden tener
Complemento Directo salvo casos muy puntuales.
• Ejemplos de Verbos Intransitivos:
• Sonreír: la chica sonrió.
• Jugar: los niños juegan.
9. Transitive e Intransitive verbs
• Transitive verbs are action verbs that have an object to receive
that action. In the first sentence above, the direct object ball
received the action of the verb hit. Example:
• I baked some cookies.
• I rode the bicycle.
• Intransitive verbs are action verbs but unlike transitive verbs,
they do not have an object receiving the action. Example:
• I laughed.
• I cried.
10. Verbos pronominales
• Un verbo pronominal es el que usa los pronombres reflexivos
(me, te, se, nos, os, se), generalmente es verbo intransitivo
(no tiene objeto).
• Se usa el pronombre reflexivo para cambiar el sentido del
verbo, acentuar la acción.
• Tienes que acordarte de depositar el dinero de la colegiatura
en el banco.
• Tengo que dormirme temprano.
11. Pronominal verbs/ reflexive
Pronominal verbs, often called reflexive verbs, are verbs in
which a "pronoun" is inserted that agrees with the subject.
The term reflexive is often used to cover all these verbs, because
a helpful notion for understanding them is that "the object
of the verb is the same thing/person as the subject",
I take a bath/shower
You take a bath/shower
He/she takes a bath/shower
We take
12. Verbos Unipersonales
Los Verbos Unipersonales (también llamados impersonales) son
aquellos verbos que solo se conjugan en tercera persona del
singular.
la mayor parte de los verbos unipersonales se refiere a fenómenos
naturales, meteorológicos, o atmosféricos, aunque éstos no son los
únicos.
Llueve mucho en esta época.
Granizó muy fuerte ayer en la tarde.
13. Impersonal verbs
• An impersonal verb expresses the action of an unspecified,
generally meaningless subject.
• Conjugated forms exist only in the third-person singular (as
in llueve, it is raining).
- To rain, it rains
- To hail
