ABSTRACT
Breast cancer is cancer that occurs in breast tissue that is widely experienced in
women, and treatment of breast cancer with the surgery followed by
chemotherapy and radiation, but these techniques have not been effective in the
prevention of breast cancer. One of the efforts for the prevention of breast cancer
cells with the use of bioactive compounds from plants awar - awar ( Ficus septica
Burm.f. ) that has pharmacological properties as awar - awar plant is a medicinal
plant that is used by so many people. The purpose of this study was to isolate the
active compound content found on plant stems awar - awar cell activity that can
prevent breast cancer MCF-7. The method used in this study was awar - awar rod
in maceration using 70 % ethanol, then partitioned with hexane, chloroform, ethyl
acetate, and ethanol. Results partition tested its activity against breast cancer cells
MCF-7 cells obtained fractions active against breast cancer, further compounds
the separation process using a variety of chromatographic techniques to obtain
pure compounds. Then the pure compound in the identification of the structure of
chemical compounds using FTIR and NMR spectroscopy.
