Olivia will wear a casual winter coat and beanie hat in the film to depict her character as a young, fashionable adult and represent the winter season. Winter is a good setting for a horror film as it gets darker earlier and is colder.
The film would receive a 15 rating from the British Board of Film Classification due to psychological and horror elements like an accident scene, violence, and suspense, but no gore or explicit sexual content.
Several locations are proposed for filming scenes for the psychological thriller trailer, including a dark room for the photographer main character, parks and markets for establishing shots, tube stations and alleyways for chasing scenes, and the main character's apartment to build suspense.
3. We will want our actress Olivia to wear a casual winter coat. After the accident she will wear
Not only does this represent a stereotypical young, trendy, a beanie hat: this simple
fashionable adult (around 20) but also depicts the season – costume could represent
winter. In comparison to summer winter is more spooky as it fragility: as if she’s hiding
gets darker later and has a colder atmosphere: a perfect something emphasises her
setting for a horror film. head too – maybe there is
5. The British Board of Film
Classification is an
independent company
which has classified
cinema, video’s and DVD
films since it was set up
in 1912.
6. Our trailer would be rated a 15 because it’s a psychological thriller.
This means that mental/psychological issues will be shown that could
be disturbing/confusing for a younger audience. There would also be
swear words in the actual film and possibly in the trailer which would
also make it a 15. there will also be horror aspects with an accident
scene, chase scenes and scenes of violence along with suspense.
The reason why it is not an 18 is because there is no gore and
explicit sexual content.
7.
8. Since the main character in our film will
be a photographer, ideally we’d like to
film in a dark room, as that would also
have a connection to our film title. After
doing some research, we have found
various places in London which hire out
Dark Rooms to the public. The
Photographers Gallery and The Camera
Club both have dark rooms but have no
information on their websites about
weather the public can use them or not.
It would be worth a try to go in, as they
are very close to school and ask if we
could use a dark room for school
purposes. Photofusion and Rapid Eye
both rent out dark rooms to the public.

12. For the opening of our trailer we’d like
establishing shots of the location our
character Lux, could be working at
(photographing). Our first choice is to do
this is in a park (Regent’s park), and we’d
like to film it in sunny weather (pathetic
fallecy to show everything is initially ok
with her)
Following on from the establishing
shot, we’d like to show Lux doing
normal day-to-day activities, like
shopping with her camera round her
neck. We thought a good location for
this would be Portobello Market. We’d
then contrast her
13. On the chasing scenes between Lux and the
mystery man from her dreams we thought of
various ideas including, tubes, Westminster bridge
and alley ways around Marylebone area (facilitates
times when we can film it as its near school). A
point to remember with these locations is that we
need to ask if filming in tube stations is permitted.
14. In our trailer we would like to use an over the head shot where the character
of Lux is looking into the mirror. She is trying to convince herself she is not
crazy after her accident. She will look in the mirror where everything seems
normal, open the bathroom cabinet, but when closing the door, the guy from
her dreams will appear in the background of the mirror. This type of shot is a
very typical convention in horror films as mirrors are commonly used as
iconography, and my partner and I this will be the perfect shot to have at the
end after the trailer credits, to build even more climax and persuade
audiences to go watch the film.
15. In order for the audience to feel
very familiar and connected to
our main protagonist Lux, we
would like to include in our trailer
some shots of her house/flat
where she would have her dark
room. Not only are houses
common settings for horror
films, but will be an effective
location to film scenes of
building suspense. An idea my
partner Kitty and I had would be
to film a shot of Lux looking out
of a glass window in my
apartment, since I have a
balcony which overlooks the
Thames. This would also
correspond with our stylistic idea
to have a very London-based
film.
