10. “If you think about it, our attention is the only
thing we truly own in our lives. Our possessions
can go away. Our bodies can be compromised.
Our relationships can fall apart. Even our
memories and intellectual capacity fade away.
But the simple ability to choose what to focus
on — that will always be ours.”
Mark Manson

12. According to researchers, when you get a social media
notification, your brain sends dopamine along a
reward pathway, which makes you feel good. It’s the same
chemical associated with food, exercise, love, sex, gambling, drugs.
17. Social media provides immediate rewards
— in the form of attention from your network
and acquisition of information— for minimal
effort through a quick thumb tap. Therefore, the
brain rewires itself to balance the equation of
low effort = high reward(just like drugs).
19. “ It’s attention pollution when
somebody else’s inability to focus or
control themselves then interferes with
the attention and focus of those around
them.”
Mark Manson
