1. RENAISSANCE
Renaissance architecture is the architecture of the period between the
early 15th to 17th centuries in different regions of Europe. There was a
renewed interest in learning about the achievements of the ancient
Greeks and Romans. The Renaissance had its beginnings in I taly.
I talians cities such as Florance and Venice became rich through trade
and industry. The Renaissance also emphasized the abilities and
accomplishments of human beings. As a result, artists, architects,
leaders, writers, scientists and other talented individuals were
greatly admired. Renaissance artist’s paintings w ere focused more
on celebrating the human indiv idual, rather than entirely on
religion as it had during the Medieval era. They painted everyday
life instead of religious scenes. For example Michelangelo is a
famous painter and sculptor of the I talian Renaissance. Among his works
are the “Dav id” and “Pieta” statues and the Sistine Chapel frescoes.
Michelangelo’s “Pieta”, is a sculpture of Mary holding the dead Jesus
across the lap. His work also including Creation of Adam. Moreover
Leonardo Da Vinci is a great painter, sculptor, architect, scientist and
engineer. He is the first scientist to perform human dissections of the
body to study anatomy. He painted very realistic pictures such as the
Mona Lisa and Last Supper.
