Social influences
Social influences are a social identity theory. Social influences states that the
development of our identity is connected to a particular group. Besides, it was
also a form of social comparison. We see ourselves as being “the same” or
“different from” social groups.
I growth in a traditional chines family, so I used to speak chines and learnt
everything in chines my primary schoolwas also a chines base school. I can speak
well in chines and Malay. However, I had English language because I can’t speak
well. So, when I at secondaryschoolI only become friend with those whose can
speak chines. When I first come to Taylor’s, I feel lonely because people all
around me were speaking in English. However, now I got a quit huge group of
friends due to my first CL assignment. When we first meet we use to speak English
and I had to force myself to speak English too. I still remember the awkward
situation. ‘Hi, my name is xxx. Nice to meet you all.’
This is the sentences we say in the tutorial group. After introduce ourselves to
group member we sit still until the end. In our first meeting, one of the member ask
‘Can you all speak chines? ’ all of us knobbing our head and the awkward feel
between members gone. Now, although I got friend does not speak chines but I
feel more comfortable with friend who can speak chines. This is because my
growth environment influences me.

The Confirmation Bias
The confirmation bias was in chapter 4 Social perception. The confirmation
bias states that we actively seek out data that supportour beliefs and we actively
Disregard data the refute our beliefs. People maintain their original beliefs, even in
the face of contradictory data.
Recently, the was a hit café name underground society. I knew this café
through Instagram. Underground society locates at shop around Sunway University
and the hot staff there was an ice-cream. The unique of the ice-cream is it looks.
When the waiters serve the ice cream to you they would light up the ice-cream
surface face by fire. So it looks like burning the ice-cream and it look nice to taste,
and the review is quite good. I want to try it very badly but I got no time. One day,
I saw my sister postpicture of that ice-cream on her instagram. So I ask her how it
tastes. She told me not nice at all it taste like eating sugar plus cream that melt. Her
review is the ice-cream is not nice only the environment is comfortable. I did not
belief what she say because that ice-cream look nice. I make decision to try out on
weekend with my friends. On that day I walk in with my friends and we try out
that ice-cream. Our overview review is environments are nice but that ice-cream
4. tasty like what my sister say eating a melting sugar plus cream. The confirmation
bias was shown in this situation

Attitude
‘Attitudes’ refers to a tendency to evaluate a person, object, or idea with
some degree of approval or disapproval. Attitudes can vary in tone and strength.
Attitudes also can be ambivalent. Attitude can be categorized in two term which is
implicit and explicit. Implicit attitudes form without our conscious and awareness,
it may occurautomatically. While an explicit attitude is an attitude that one
recognizes and can control. Early experiences, affective experiences, cultural
biases and cognitive consistency principle are the factors determine whether an
attitude is implicit or explicit.
TodayI will like to talk about implicit attitudes of me new friends. One
scenario, when I go a gathering with secondaryschool’s friends. One of them
brings his or her college or university mate to the gathering. In the middle of
gathering one of my friends ask me am I not feeling well, she ask me why I so
quiet. After that I only release I am too quiet at that day, so I told that friends
maybe i feel uncomfortable with someone new and might need time to relief .This
might be my implicit attitudes to new friends.

Operant conditioning
Operating conditioning was fall under chapter 5 attitudes. Operant
conditioning can occurusing reinforcement or punishment to strengthen or weaken
particular behavior. There are few types of operant outcome, first was positive
reinforcement or positive reinforcement next was positive punishment or negative
punishment. For example, a cat whose was place in a box with only one way out; a
specific area of the box had to been press in order to open the door. The cat
initially tries to get out of the boxbecause freedom is reinforcing. It attempts to
escape, the area of the box is triggered and the dooropens. The cat is now free.
Once places in the box again, the cat will naturally try to remember what it did to
escapethe previous time and will once again find the area to press.
I am not good in mathematics when I was still in primary school.
Mathematics was my black history from standard one to three. I got the lowest
mark in the class I will get punishment from my mum when she saw my
mathematics exam paper. She had used many ways to punish me suchas cane me,
she even drive me out of the house, but all this punishment she use do not work on
7. me. My result does not have any improvement even she punishment me. When I
was in standard four my mum start let me go to tuition and she stop punish me. My
tuition teacher treats me nicely even though I got bad result. She told me i will get
reward if my mathematics gets improvement. In the next test, my mathematics got
improvement and my tuition teacher keep her promise. I get a pencil case as my
reward. Every time my mathematics got improvement my lovely tuition teacher
my reward me something. My mathematics got improvement because of the
rewarding action. This was a operant conditioning I experience.

Motivation
Motivation can be divided into two type which s intrinsic motivation and
extrinsic motivation. Intrinsic motivation can happen when we taking a certain
action for the sake of enjoyment. Intrinsic motivation can lead us to be more fully
engaged and lead to greater curiosity and pleasure. On the other hand, extrinsic
motivation occurwhen we taking a certain action in responseto external pressure
or obligation. Extrinsic motivation might be done to avoid punishment or earn a
specific reward. It also can inhibit behaviors if used at wrong time.
Now I would like to talk about an extrinsic motivation happen on me. I
experiences extrinsic motivation in losing my weight. I am K-pop fans. I first
contact with K-pop staff when I am in secondary third year. All girls in Korea
drama were pretty and slim. I was a chubby girl in that time. After watching
Korean drama I had determine to loss my weight. Since that, I start my diet journey.
I start exercising, play badminton and basketball. I had loss my weight in one year.
Now, badminton had become one of my hobbies. On the other hand, when I feel
stress I will also play badminton to release my pressure. This is the extrinsic
motivation occuron me.
