WESTMINSTER BUSINESS SCHOOL SCHOOL OF APPLIED MANAGEMENT Module Title:
Online Entertainment Management Module Code: 4EBUS001W Assessment title:
Development Portfolio Assessment weighting: 50% Assessment deadline: Thursday 16th
March 2023 Semester 2, 2022/2023 Assessment Brief The Assessment This coursework is
worth 50% of the total module marks available for this module. This is an individual piece
of work; therefore, you should not collude with others, while completing this work. The
word limit for the development portfolio is 1,000 words (Maximum). Your task is to submit
a mobile APP development portfolio. The structure of your portfolio should have the
following three elements: 1. Report – A clear description of your APP and its functions,
analysis of its place in the marketplace and any ethical and/or legal issues you needed to
consider with your APP design. • Description of the APP • Selection of suitable functions •
Analysis of the marketplace for the APP • Consideration of legal and ethical issues for the
APP 2. Business model Canvas- for your APP • Relationship between the Business module
canvas and the other elements within the assessment • Depth of analysis in the Business
Model Canvas 3. Storyboard – A storyboard showing how a user would use your APP, this
must show how the functions work for the user as well as the user interface design (you
could also use APP template used in the seminars and workshops). • Depth detail of design •
Clear design of functions within the APP • The APP design and its functions use are clearly
shown within the storyboard • The methods used within the storyboard to demonstrate the
APP design and functions Please note you will need to provide your sources for the analysis
and any images used within this piece of work. Assessment criteria The assessment criteria
and weightings show you what is important in the assessment and how marks are shared
across each criterion. When you are completing your assessment remember you need to
fulfil the brief and the assessment criteria below. At the end of this document, we have
provided you a more detailed marking grid, which describes both the expectation for each
criterion and how marks would be awarded based upon performance. Page | 2 Criterion
Report Business model Canvas Storyboard Total Weighting 40% 20% 40% 100% The
University has arrangements for marking, internal moderation and external scrutiny.
Further information can be found in Section 12 of the Handbook of Academic Regulations,
westminster.ac.uk/study/current-students/resources/academic-regulations Anonymous
marking Do NOT include your name or student number within the file name or anywhere
within your submission. The submission will be subject to anonymous marking. Having
logged into blackboard the system will record your details anonymously and tutors will
only see your name after the entire submission has been assessed and provisional marks
have been released to all students at the same time. Referencing requirements for the
assessment Statements, assertions and ideas made in coursework should be supported by
citing relevant sources. Sources cited in the text should be listed at the end of the
assignment in a reference list. Any material that you read but do not cite in the report
should go into a separate bibliography. Unless explicitly stated otherwise by the module
teaching team, all referencing should be in Westminster Harvard format. If you are not sure
about this, the library provides guidance (available via the library website pages). The
deadline and submitting your coursework – checks Unless indicated otherwise, coursework
is submitted via Blackboard. The deadline for this assessment is Thursday 16th March 2023
at 1300. This means that your work should be fully uploaded before 1300. The University
would treat your submission as late, if your work has not been fully uploaded and stored on
the server before 1300. In order to avoid your submission being marked as late, you should
upload your work as soon as possible before the deadline and must not wait until or just
before the deadline to start uploading your work. At busy times the coursework submission
process may run slowly. To ensure that your submission is not recorded as a late
submission, avoid submitting very close to the deadline. To submit your assignment: 1. Log
on to Blackboard at http://learning.westminster.ac.uk; Page | 3 2. 3. 4. 5. Go to the
Blackboard site for this module; Click on the ‘Submit assessment’ link in the navigation
menu Click on the link for the assessment; Follow the instructions, ensuring that you have
selected the correct file to upload. REMEMBER It is a requirement that you submit your
work in this way. All coursework must be uploaded by 13:00 (UK Time on the due date). If
you submit your assessment late but within 24 hours or one ‘working’ day of the specified
deadline, 10% of the overall marks available for that assessment will be deducted as a
penalty for late submission, except for work which is marked in the marginal pass rate
range (9% above the pass mark) and in this case the mark would be capped at the pass
mark. If you submit your coursework more than 24 hours after the specified deadline you
will be given a mark of zero for the work in question. Difficulties in submitting assignments
on time If you have difficulties for reasons beyond your control (e.g. serious illness, family
problems etc.) that prevent you from submitting the assessment, make sure you apply to
the Mitigating Circumstances board with evidence to support your claim as soon as
possible. Further details can be found on the following URL:
https://www.westminster.ac.uk/currentstudents/guides-and-policies/assessment-
guidelines/mitigating-circumstances-claims If you are unsure about the above information,
you should seek academic support from your module leader, personal tutor or your course
leader. You will find details of your module leader in this module’s handbook and you can
find the name of your course leader and personal tutor from your “My Student Records”
page via the University’s student portal. ACADEMIC SUPPORT & FEEDBACK
ARRANGEMENTS For this assessment, there will be an opportunity for an academic support
& feedback dropin session, where you will receive support and feedback on your
assessment prior to submission. Further details are provided in the module handbook.
There will also be opportunities to receive academic support during lectures and/or
seminars, workshops through allocated questions and answers sessions and through the
discussion board on the module blackboard site. After submission, summative feedback will
be provided online via blackboard, where feedback takes the form of an indication of
performance on the provided making grid. You will also receive a number on key points of
strength, weakness and academic skills you can improve upon. We aim to provide you this
feedback within 15 working days. If you are unsure about how to see your provisional
marks and feedback, the following LINK will explain how you can do this –
https://blog.westminster.ac.uk/blackboardhelp/marks-andfeedback/ Page | 4 Academic
integrity What you submit for assessment must be your own current work. It will
automatically be scanned through a text matching system to check for possible plagiarism.
Do not reuse material from other assessments that you may have completed on other
modules. Collusion with other students (except when working in groups), recycling
previous assignments (unless this is explicitly allowed by the module leader) and/or
plagiarism (copying) of other sources all are offences and are dealt with accordingly. If you
are not sure about this, then speak to your class leader. University of Westminster Quality &
Standards statement Plagiarism is a particular form of cheating. Plagiarism must be avoided
at all costs and students who break the rules, however innocently, will be penalized. It is
your responsibility to ensure that you understand correct referencing practices. As a
University level student, you are expected to use appropriate references and keep carefully
detailed notes of all your sources of material, including any material downloaded from the
www. Plagiarism is defined as submission for assessment of material (written, visual or
oral) originally produced by another person or persons, without acknowledgement, in such
a way that the work could be assumed to be your own. Plagiarism may involve the
unattributed use of another person’s work, ideas, opinions, theory, facts, statistics, graphs,
models, paintings, performance, computer code, drawings, quotations of another person’s
actual spoken or written words, or paraphrases of another person’s spoken or written
words. Plagiarism covers both direct copying and copying or paraphrasing with only minor
adjustments: • a direct quotation from a text must be indicated by the use of quotation
marks (or an indented paragraph in italics for a substantive section) and the source of the
quote (title, author, page number and date of publication) provided; • a paraphrased
summary must be indicated by attribution of the author, date and source of the material
including page numbers for the section(s) which have been summarized. Page | 5 Criteria &

the App Report App Description O PY This my app ‘Calorie Count’ the purpose of this app is
too constructively calculate how much calories you consume within a day and from there
you can make the correct decisions to make better diet choices whether it’s to lose a certain
amount of weight week by week or to bulk up in size. It also provides the customer with
healthy life choices, tips, support and encourage when trying to lose weight due to the fact it
can be a difficult time for some. C Functions of the App D O N O T The app has a login and
sign up function on the home screen, existing customers can sign in and get back to where
they left off and new customers can easily sign up. Once you’ve logged in you are presented
with a search bar that allows you to search up any food or diet you want to search up, under
that function there is your profile picture and your display name, on that page you have
your main function the Calorie Diary where you input what you’ve recently ate and it will
automatically discover how much calories it has, at the very bottom you have the reset
button that you press at the end of the day it will automatically go back to zero and from
there you can start the next day. This is very similar to MyFitnessPal an app that even
helped a woman lose 130 pounds (Walsh, No Date) Press the menu icon on the top left and
it will show the different opinions. You have the find your calorie allowance which makes
you input your age, gender, weight, height, how much you exercise per day, and if you want
to lose or put on weight, once you put in all those details you will be able to find out what’s
your daily calorie allowance per day. We also have the ‘Discover New Impactful Diets’ which
educates you on a variety of diets that are on offer for you to try out. You can find out which
diet is best for you. The ‘Dieting Tips’ function is so you a range of different advice you can
use for when dieting. The ‘Better Recipe’ function is for you to discover new thrilling recipes
that are low in calories and easy for you to try out at home. The ‘Messenger’ function gives
you the opportunity to chat to one of teammates whose duty is to aid you with advice or any
enquiry you may have when dieting. 3 Calorie Count the App Analysis of the Marketplace PY
For my app to get recognition I must promote it in the correct areas, this will gain some
brand awareness. This could be done by utilising social media outlets and different online
platforms, from there I can gain attraction from my target audience, I could also gain
attraction by putting up posters in the gym, hospital, GP, and parks, I particularly chose
those areas since those are the places people go to get healthy or to check up on their
health, by doing so my target audience can instantly see an app is there to help them with
whatever they need dieting wise. Another great locate to place my advertisement is at tube
stations areas like Waterloo, London Bridge, London Victoria and Liverpool Street (which
are apparently the busiest stations in the UK) will gain a lot of attention, over 50 million
people pass through each one of those stations so a mass majority of people are bound to
see it especially young students and the working class who are within my age range (18 to
34). (Gillett, 2017) O Ethical and Legal Constraints C These are the legal and ethical fact that
I will face when running the app. O N O T When developing an app I had to take in
marketing factor which could affect my brand, one of those is confidentiality, when dealing
with outside parties if any good ideas that either I or someone on my team slips out it can
get exploited to the wrong party i.e. competitors, the best solution I have for this is to have
non-disclosure agreements, with non-disclosure agreements anyone in involvement to any
meeting or projects that are due to take place regarding the app needs to sign it to ensure
that no one steals any ideas, if they do then they will be held accountable and liable to sue.
This is great method to protect my ideas. D I should also register my copyrights, patents,
and trademark, by doing so I can protect my work, content and designs (copyright), also my
logo and brand name (trademark), as well as my creations that are fairly new and not too
noticeable. By doing this my ownership and originality of my app will be heavily guarded,
although if I am do see success with the app some rival apps could make a knockoff edition
to my ideas. An ethical and legal constraint that I could face is customers making fraudulent
payments for my services, so I would need to have some sort of cardholder verification
function where we can check if the person making the purchase is the owner of the card
being used. One thing I should be aware of due to me obtaining my customers information is
the Data Protection Act, the Data Protection Act controls how someone’s personal
information is used by the government, organisation or businesses like mine. On my app, I
the owner will be observing my customers names, email addresses, card details, so that any
transaction regarding the app goes through efficiently. 4 Calorie Count the App To conclude
it’s vital for my business to attest how trustworthy we are towards our customers, due to
them giving their private information to us. I should study on these ethical and legal
constraints to make sure I don’t get into any legal trouble. [Report Word Count: 964 Words]

University of Westminster Management Questions.docx

  • 1. (Mt) – University of Westminster Management Questions WESTMINSTER BUSINESS SCHOOL SCHOOL OF APPLIED MANAGEMENT Module Title: Online Entertainment Management Module Code: 4EBUS001W Assessment title: Development Portfolio Assessment weighting: 50% Assessment deadline: Thursday 16th March 2023 Semester 2, 2022/2023 Assessment Brief The Assessment This coursework is worth 50% of the total module marks available for this module. This is an individual piece of work; therefore, you should not collude with others, while completing this work. The word limit for the development portfolio is 1,000 words (Maximum). Your task is to submit a mobile APP development portfolio. The structure of your portfolio should have the following three elements: 1. Report – A clear description of your APP and its functions, analysis of its place in the marketplace and any ethical and/or legal issues you needed to consider with your APP design. • Description of the APP • Selection of suitable functions • Analysis of the marketplace for the APP • Consideration of legal and ethical issues for the APP 2. Business model Canvas- for your APP • Relationship between the Business module canvas and the other elements within the assessment • Depth of analysis in the Business Model Canvas 3. Storyboard – A storyboard showing how a user would use your APP, this must show how the functions work for the user as well as the user interface design (you could also use APP template used in the seminars and workshops). • Depth detail of design • Clear design of functions within the APP • The APP design and its functions use are clearly shown within the storyboard • The methods used within the storyboard to demonstrate the APP design and functions Please note you will need to provide your sources for the analysis and any images used within this piece of work. Assessment criteria The assessment criteria and weightings show you what is important in the assessment and how marks are shared across each criterion. When you are completing your assessment remember you need to fulfil the brief and the assessment criteria below. At the end of this document, we have provided you a more detailed marking grid, which describes both the expectation for each criterion and how marks would be awarded based upon performance. Page | 2 Criterion Report Business model Canvas Storyboard Total Weighting 40% 20% 40% 100% The University has arrangements for marking, internal moderation and external scrutiny. Further information can be found in Section 12 of the Handbook of Academic Regulations, westminster.ac.uk/study/current-students/resources/academic-regulations Anonymous marking Do NOT include your name or student number within the file name or anywhere within your submission. The submission will be subject to anonymous marking. Having logged into blackboard the system will record your details anonymously and tutors will
  • 2. only see your name after the entire submission has been assessed and provisional marks have been released to all students at the same time. Referencing requirements for the assessment Statements, assertions and ideas made in coursework should be supported by citing relevant sources. Sources cited in the text should be listed at the end of the assignment in a reference list. Any material that you read but do not cite in the report should go into a separate bibliography. Unless explicitly stated otherwise by the module teaching team, all referencing should be in Westminster Harvard format. If you are not sure about this, the library provides guidance (available via the library website pages). The deadline and submitting your coursework – checks Unless indicated otherwise, coursework is submitted via Blackboard. The deadline for this assessment is Thursday 16th March 2023 at 1300. This means that your work should be fully uploaded before 1300. The University would treat your submission as late, if your work has not been fully uploaded and stored on the server before 1300. In order to avoid your submission being marked as late, you should upload your work as soon as possible before the deadline and must not wait until or just before the deadline to start uploading your work. At busy times the coursework submission process may run slowly. To ensure that your submission is not recorded as a late submission, avoid submitting very close to the deadline. To submit your assignment: 1. Log on to Blackboard at http://learning.westminster.ac.uk; Page | 3 2. 3. 4. 5. Go to the Blackboard site for this module; Click on the ‘Submit assessment’ link in the navigation menu Click on the link for the assessment; Follow the instructions, ensuring that you have selected the correct file to upload. REMEMBER It is a requirement that you submit your work in this way. All coursework must be uploaded by 13:00 (UK Time on the due date). If you submit your assessment late but within 24 hours or one ‘working’ day of the specified deadline, 10% of the overall marks available for that assessment will be deducted as a penalty for late submission, except for work which is marked in the marginal pass rate range (9% above the pass mark) and in this case the mark would be capped at the pass mark. If you submit your coursework more than 24 hours after the specified deadline you will be given a mark of zero for the work in question. Difficulties in submitting assignments on time If you have difficulties for reasons beyond your control (e.g. serious illness, family problems etc.) that prevent you from submitting the assessment, make sure you apply to the Mitigating Circumstances board with evidence to support your claim as soon as possible. Further details can be found on the following URL: https://www.westminster.ac.uk/currentstudents/guides-and-policies/assessment- guidelines/mitigating-circumstances-claims If you are unsure about the above information, you should seek academic support from your module leader, personal tutor or your course leader. You will find details of your module leader in this module’s handbook and you can find the name of your course leader and personal tutor from your “My Student Records” page via the University’s student portal. ACADEMIC SUPPORT & FEEDBACK ARRANGEMENTS For this assessment, there will be an opportunity for an academic support & feedback dropin session, where you will receive support and feedback on your assessment prior to submission. Further details are provided in the module handbook. There will also be opportunities to receive academic support during lectures and/or seminars, workshops through allocated questions and answers sessions and through the
  • 3. discussion board on the module blackboard site. After submission, summative feedback will be provided online via blackboard, where feedback takes the form of an indication of performance on the provided making grid. You will also receive a number on key points of strength, weakness and academic skills you can improve upon. We aim to provide you this feedback within 15 working days. If you are unsure about how to see your provisional marks and feedback, the following LINK will explain how you can do this – https://blog.westminster.ac.uk/blackboardhelp/marks-andfeedback/ Page | 4 Academic integrity What you submit for assessment must be your own current work. It will automatically be scanned through a text matching system to check for possible plagiarism. Do not reuse material from other assessments that you may have completed on other modules. Collusion with other students (except when working in groups), recycling previous assignments (unless this is explicitly allowed by the module leader) and/or plagiarism (copying) of other sources all are offences and are dealt with accordingly. If you are not sure about this, then speak to your class leader. University of Westminster Quality & Standards statement Plagiarism is a particular form of cheating. Plagiarism must be avoided at all costs and students who break the rules, however innocently, will be penalized. It is your responsibility to ensure that you understand correct referencing practices. As a University level student, you are expected to use appropriate references and keep carefully detailed notes of all your sources of material, including any material downloaded from the www. Plagiarism is defined as submission for assessment of material (written, visual or oral) originally produced by another person or persons, without acknowledgement, in such a way that the work could be assumed to be your own. Plagiarism may involve the unattributed use of another person’s work, ideas, opinions, theory, facts, statistics, graphs, models, paintings, performance, computer code, drawings, quotations of another person’s actual spoken or written words, or paraphrases of another person’s spoken or written words. Plagiarism covers both direct copying and copying or paraphrasing with only minor adjustments: • a direct quotation from a text must be indicated by the use of quotation marks (or an indented paragraph in italics for a substantive section) and the source of the quote (title, author, page number and date of publication) provided; • a paraphrased summary must be indicated by attribution of the author, date and source of the material including page numbers for the section(s) which have been summarized. This could be done by utilising social media outlets and different online platforms, from there I can gain attraction from my target audience, I could also gain attraction by putting up posters in the gym, hospital, GP, and parks, I particularly chose those areas since those are the places people go to get healthy or to check up on their health, by doing so my target audience can instantly see an app is there to help them with whatever they need dieting wise. Another great locate to place my advertisement is at tube stations areas like Waterloo, London Bridge, London Victoria and Liverpool Street (which are apparently the busiest stations in the UK) will gain a lot of attention, over 50 million people pass through each one of those stations so a mass majority of people are bound to see it especially young students and the working class who are within my age range (18 to 34). (Gillett, 2017) O Ethical and Legal Constraints C These are the legal and ethical fact that I will face when running the app. O N O T When developing an app I had to take in marketing factor which could affect my brand, one of those is confidentiality, when dealing with outside parties if any good ideas that either I or someone on my team slips out it can get exploited to the wrong party i.e. competitors, the best solution I have for this is to have non-disclosure agreements, with non-disclosure agreements anyone in involvement to any meeting or projects that are due to take place regarding the app needs to sign it to ensure that no one steals any ideas, if they do then they will be held accountable and liable to sue. This is great method to protect my ideas. D I should also register my copyrights, patents, and trademark, by doing so I can protect my work, content and designs (copyright), also my logo and brand name (trademark), as well as my creations that are fairly new and not too noticeable. By doing this my ownership and originality of my app will be heavily guarded, although if I am do see success with the app some rival apps could make a knockoff edition to my ideas. An ethical and legal constraint that I could face is customers making fraudulent payments for my services, so I would need to have some sort of cardholder verification function where we can check if the person making the purchase is the owner of the card

One thing I should be aware of due to me obtaining my customers information is the Data Protection Act, the Data Protection Act controls how someone’s personal information is used by the government, organisation or businesses like mine. On my app, I the owner will be observing my customers names, email addresses, card details, so that any transaction regarding the app goes through efficiently. 4 Calorie Count the App To conclude it’s vital for my business to attest how trustworthy we are towards our customers, due to them giving their private information to us. I should study on these ethical and legal constraints to make sure I don’t get into any legal trouble.
