8. ICT & Audio/Visual Resources Question Generator Weather and Climate T A S C Topic overview: This unit focuses on patterns and processes associated with weather and climate. Pupils carry out a range of investigation into local and wider afield weather situations and begin to explore how various factors affect the weather/climate in a place. Pupils are encouraged to work together to produce a weather forecast for a particular location and to choose a suitable holiday destination for a family with particular interests. In carrying out these activities they engage in enquiry-based learning and problem solving, interpret weather maps and satellite images, use ICT skills and learn to draw and interpret climate graphs. Pupils distinguish between weather and climate and identify how human activities may be linked with climate patterns; the more detailed study of air masses is left until key stage 4. Assessment Pupils carry out a Microclimate Investigation (enquiry) around the school. The work build on the basic understanding of weather recording carried out in primary schools as part of our PRIMARY- SECONDARY TRANSITIONAL links Homework Plan Develop Reflect

Topic Overview: This unit explore the traditional Geography map skills including Grid reference, scale, direction and orienteering but involves the added dimension of ICT and GIS. The pupils get to grips with Aegis 3 and Google Earth in addition to more general Microsoft applications. Assessment: The unit culminates in an Enquiry project based around the local area. Pupils complete 5 set tasks and demonstrate a wide range of ICT and geographical skills Plan Develop Reflect
