2. Observations on the Nature of Hard
Work, and how it has been unjustly
degraded in modern society.
3. The beginning of the presentation was an immediately attention
grabbing story.
4. And Mike retains his audience’s interest by interspersing parts
of the story throughout his presentation.
5. As a Television Host, Mike is a very good and dynamic Public Speaker.
6. Perhaps the only thing that could have made his presentation more dynamic
would be the inclusion of video clips…
7. But considering what he joked about showing, It may be for the best that he
didn’t!
8. Mike didn’t use any of Garr Reynolds’
techniques in his presentation.
It would have been rather difficult
with him not using PowerPoint!
9. e did make heavy use of story as detailed by Nancy Duarte however, and was
killful at intertwining his information and story.
10. I learned to try smoothly incorporating meaningful information with
engaging story, and to be confident in what I am saying.
11. Also, being a well known TV personality doesn’t hurt your
credibility or charisma in front of a crowd.
12. Both Mike and Ken Robinson make good use of
body language, humor, and interspersed excerpts.
Mike had better posture and (I think) a
voice more suited to public speaking,
while Ken got more laughs and
had a less profound story.

In the second video from Ken, besides being illustrated, he was
more factual then funny.
This is in contrast to Mike having a good balance between the two
extremes.
