Question 1 – In What Ways Does Your Media
Product Use, Develop Or Challenge Forms And
Conventions?
2. Movie Trailer
• My trailer is about a teenage girl who is confused and is going
through troubles in deciding what path she should follow. She is a
Muslim girl and knows what is wrong and knows what is right but
doesn’t have the courage to do what she knows.
3. Question 1
In my trailer I used non-diagetic sound, I
used recitation from the Quran, which is
not usually used in trailers. I chose to use
this to make my trailer different from
others and to make the trailer more
related with what my movie is about.
• My trailer was based on a lot of research from other related movie trailer with
similar genres. I used inter-titles to show the audience a bit more about the
movie and to grow their interest. The movie trailers that I watched used inter-
titles therefore it interested me to use them them too.
4. Question 1
In my film trailer I have challenged a mixture of ethnic backgrounds because I have mixed
different people in my movie trailer from different countries. I have characters who are
from Africa and from Iran. The main actress of the movie is from Iran.
• I personally felt that my trailer was challenged a lot because the trailer wasn’t same to
other trailers that I have seen. I also think that the conventions are similar to other
movies with the same genre.
5. Question 1
• The movie title and the release date I put at
the end of the trailer. I felt to do this
because it will stay in the audiences mind
because it’s the last thing that they will see.
Most of the other trailers that I had studied
did the same thing, therefore this a
convention of a teen drama. The location for the film was taken
in a park and in her bedroom. The
park reflects on the idea that she is
socialising and hanging with her
mates. In her room the mood
changes, the lighting is dull. I
challenged the conventions by
making the main protagonist read
from the Quran.
